Meh, whens my 9800 coming out
Do Not Want!
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
Fuk that, 9800GX2 at the end of the month between 500-600 Euro's

If they can make the 9800 GX2 work in 3-way SLI then I will buy three - and have one sexy sextuple-SLI setup!
Not possible. It's 2 PCB's, same concept as 7950GX2 so it wont work properly even in SLI which auto. makes it Quad SLI, which also doesnt work.topal63 wrote:

Eh, I wasn't really being serious (Quad-SLI never really worked right and it conflicts with the DirectX Frame buffering)._NL_Lt.EngineerFox wrote:

But if...if, if - ah if they could.
I might if there is a 2GB GDDR4 version, but still very nice.
Why 2GB, isnt 1GB allready a huge overkill?mikeyb118 wrote:

Doesnt that thing run, sooooo hot, it can out do all the global warming lots conservation antics! Lowered the clocks for that reason._NL_Lt.EngineerFox wrote:

Yeah but how much will this GDDR4 version of the 3870 X2 cost? It'll probably be better bang for buck compared to the 9800GX2. Probably would be better at overclocking and because it does the multi-GPU using hardware instead of software like the 9800GX2 it'll probably scale better_NL_Lt.EngineerFox wrote:

Yeh, quad sli does not work!!!
Good god the ati card can shelter a hobo
Two cores on one PCB is a MUCH better idea than two PCB's glued together.
It didn't work the first time, and I have my doubts that it will work the second time.
ATi was already better at multi-card solutions, I have my faith in them.

ATI: nitpicking at model numbers much? Not going to set yourself apart from NV that way.
Wow, you guys really have to find every little fault with ATi, don't you?
I would say that the 3870X2 runs too hot, 2 Cores on 1 PCB just doesnt sound right to me.Bell wrote:

Seeings both cards only have one cooler, it should cool the same..._NL_Lt.EngineerFox wrote:

I'm not sure whether it is or not - did skim through, couldn't see anything that said for definite which version it is, but you could be right..Sup wrote:

very interesting card tbh. Has better cooler than stock one as well. Too bad the AA+AF performance is bollox. (ex-owner of HD3870 so I know).
