Did either of you read the thread around that pic?  Or what GunSlinger or myself have posted about the original usage of first, second, or third world?

It has been addressed multiple times.  These are cold war era terms that are applicable to cold war era maps.  What GS says is right--they have little meaning now, so an updated map would be misleading and unnecessary.  Take a look at serge's post for what is used now.

First/second/third world no longer exists. It was used as a reference:
first world = Democratic west
Second world = Communist
Third world = everyone else.

Today we used the terms:
- Developed
- Developing (and there are different stages of this)
  • Newly industrialized
  • Other emerging markets
  • Other developing economies
- Undeveloped.
  • High income
  • Upper-middle income
  • Lower-middle income
  • Low income

Shit holes or not these children suffer like we never have. I was brought up in relatively poor conditions but not like they have to I have heard stories of kids 3 and 6 on their own looking after one another scavenging for food. My children are that age, and I just cannot comprehend that. If I was the richest man on earth I would give all my money to solve childrens poverty. These programmes on this subject have made me cry numerous times i'm NOT ashamed to say. I am 28 years old. I cry for these children.
