Even though it's a microsoft product, it's great. Especially for lazy people like me, auto space between full stops and new sentances, auto capitlisation, spell checker.

Wordpad does CRLFs. It's much better than notepad for editing text files across platforms.

Notepad. If it's some dumb format, WordPad.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. Im surprised how useful Notepad is- I started using it for modding BF2, and now I use for loads of things.

For Finding and replacing, I use Dreamweaver- its excelled for its options.

On Linux, it really depends on what I am doing. I hate programming in Fortran with anything but emacs, but I do just about everything else with nano.
