Hey techie type people, I gotta question. My daughters laptop screen is cracked. It still works, but is it ok to still use like this? Sorry for my ignorance, I've never dealt with this before.
use it till it breaks.
How cracked? We Need Pics.
Screens can be replaced, but they can be quite expensive. Yes you can still use it, but all it can do is get worse
It is fine to go on with, the liquid will most likely spread within the display causing more loss. They are also damn expensive to replace My sister has been using a laptop with a cracked display for months.
Just buy a cheap (or not cheap if you want, but it will probably be less expensive than getting the screen replaced) monitor and hook it up to the laptop.
Ok thanks, Its not spider webbed. Just 3 or 4 lines that go across the whole screen. It's a cheap acer laptop that I paid around $600 for after rebates.
this any help
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
lol

You may be able to score a used screen from eBay. I just bought some parts on there to fix a nice Dell laptop that my work was going to discard. I troubleshot it down to the battery charging board, and then bought the parts on eBay. Got a 2.4GHz P4M, 2GB RAM, 80GB HDD, 15.4" screen with 1600x1200 resolution, DVD-RW drive, and 32MB nVidia GF4 mobile video card....cost me <$100.
The parts weren't that expensive, and I did find screens for the laptop I was working on. You too may be able to find a working screen for cheap.

Is it the screen that has cracked or is there a protective layer over the screen that has cracked.....does it have any liquid bleed??
It should be ok for a while...but I would suggest a new screen.
In the mean time you could attach and external monitor and keyboard...and still use the laptop
