As I was reading over an article on the stimulus package funds that will be sent out by May and I have a suggestion on how the funds would best be spent.  How everyone buys a nice gun or three?  That way the plan will have its desired effect of boosting the economy since businesses would get all the money and we'd have some sweet new guns too! I will get approximately $1,800 so I'm considering these:

Springfield M1A

or perhaps in Mossy Oak

or Colt Gold Cup Match

or H&K USP .45 (used to have an H&K, miss it)

or a Remi 700?

What would you pick with $1,800?

I hope the stimulus plan doesn't affect the dollar. I'm going to NYC on Saturday. I got $445 for €300 on Monday!

If I was a retailer, and I knew that nearly EVERYONE would be getting a cash injection. I'd raise my prices.

I'll probably end up doing the same, but if you could just spend the $1,800 what would you choose?  Doesn't have to be from my selections above if you prefer another fine weapon.

What is this stimulus package anyway? Everyone gets handed $1800?

weapon  wise?  Ive always wanted a black powder musket.  But I wouldnt buy that unless I had some real money to spend.  I doubt my check is going to be $1800 though.  If I didnt have bills, Id buy new furniture.

Depending on how many children and if your married or not affects how much money you get. I cant remember the real numbers but per person its like 600-800.

Edit, the whole objective of the stimulus package is to get people to spend money, which most people don't plan on doing.

from what I read about it, you either get $300, $600 or $1200 depending on the size your income (up to $80,000 a year) and the size of your family.  You have to file your taxes for 2007.  Ive heard that the checks will be out by june.   I think its a stupid idea but Im going to be accepting my check like the rest of the tax payers.

Individual taxpayers would get up to $600 in rebates, working couples $1,200 and those with children an additional $300 per child under the agreement. In a key concession to Democrats, 35 million families who make at least $3,000 but don't pay taxes would get $300 rebates.

I agree, but I'm not sending it back.  My car needs some tlc.  But maybe I'll have some left to get a decent pistol.  Miss going to the range.

It seems like a dangerous violation of the principles of free market economics. It effectively devalues the dollar.

Perhaps some of the surplus needs to come back to the US?  Cash or oil works for me.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23578542/

Iraq is not spending much of its own money, despite soaring oil revenues that are pushing the country toward a massive budget surplus, U.S. auditors told Congress on Tuesday.  The expected surplus comes as the U.S. continues to invest billions of dollars in rebuilding Iraq and faces a financial squeeze domestically because of record oil prices.  "The Iraqis have a budget surplus," said U.S. Comptroller General David Walker. "We have a huge budget deficit. ... One of the questions is who should be paying."  Walker and the other auditors did not give a figure for the likely surplus. U.S. officials contend that Iraq's lack of spending is due primarily to Baghdad's inability to determine where its money is needed most and how to allocate it efficiently. Two senators have called for an investigation into the matter.  Democrats say the assessment is proof that the Iraq war as a waste of time and money. The U.S. has spent more than $45 billion on rebuilding Iraq. And while officials in Iraq contend that much progress is being made, many projects remain unfinished and U.S. troops are still needed to provide security.  "They ought to be able to use some of their oil to pay for their own costs and not keep sending the bill to the United States," said Sen. Patrick Leahy, a Democrat

This action is like a pimple on a rhino's ass compared to other things that are devaluing the dollar.

the M1A, for sure.

great battle rifle. only thing its not really built for, is CQB. but it can place quick accurate fire with no problem, make long range shots with pretty good accuracy and has a big enough round to stop most things.

now, if you want the really long shots, of course go with the 700.......but if i were you, M1A is where its at.

We're getting $1,800 ... I guess we'll use it to buy gasoline.

I could buy 30 tanks of gas for that ... so that will last me about 10 months for one vehicle ... I have 2.
