you're using Vista?

anyway, you might wanna expand that 2GB of RAM, also the 256mb version of the GT...hmm (because of budget?)

ya it was a budget pc. I know that the 512mb version is only a bit more expensive but I was already over my budget so everything here seemed like the best I could get. I just really hope the rig isnt going to suck cause of vista.

just format the hard drive when you get your system and install windows xp using your old cds from your old computer.

you will need more ram with vista and i think the nforce 650i mobo might not like vista

dont panic until you test it out first, it may work fine but you will need more RAM

same here.  i've had no problems.  the only real pain-in-ass i've had with vista so far is the shitty backup utility, but no crashes or anything like that.

Should have went for the
EVGA Nforce 650I Ultra Conroe LGA775 ATX 2PCI-E16 2PCI-E1 3PCI SATA2 RAID Sound GBLAN Motherboard, heard its more stable if u catch my drift.

I'd have upped the video card to the 512MB but that's about it. (you'll regret in the future but if you were on a budget there wasn't much you could do - it will still handle plenty of games. Memory really decides what resolution is best for you to play at - so a higher resolution would requre higher memory usually!)

Vista will run fine, trust me! There are little to no "compatibility issues" and those who say it sucked either have a computer which can't run it (which yours can, though) or used it when it first came out - and so - had lots of bugs. Vista is a great and I'm sure you'll enjoy it :)

Hope this helps!

ARE YOU SAYING THAT MY 1600+ IS TOO WEAK FOR VISTA?!
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

lol that is just the T1 revision... I had the T1 revision and it was pretty much identical to the T0. no difference.

Vista32 > Vista64 when using 4 gigs of ram or less.

...it doesn't make sense to install a 64-bit version of Vista in order to better utilize 4 GB of memory simply because the 32 bit version would only recognize 3.5 GB. The problem is that while it is true that you would "gain" the missing memory, you would also immediately lose it to the system due to the 64-bit version's larger memory footprint. Thus, using a 64-bit version really only makes sense with larger memory sizes.

wut!!! and the total ram in 32bit OS is ram-gfx memory.

Why do people keep calling the OS an OP?

It confuses me.....

Yup.

Their own figures even say the same thing. Though it will vary wildly on differing systems dependent on what hardware configs they run and whether or not the user knows what they're doing and has turned off unused IO ranges.

208MB usage difference from their scenario + 15MB usage from the Kernel.

223MB extra used, whereas you gain 515MB from it being addressed properly, that's 292MB of extra memory with 4GB. 32-bit apps, which make up the vast bulk of programs, have equal memory usage and 64-bit apps run faster and more efficiently, though do use more RAM.

If you have 4GB of RAM a 64-bit platform makes more sense.
