Well, it still doesn't excuse what microsoft did (even though that doesn't seem to be why bungie did this), but I bet it helped the pain a bit.

Now that is pretty F'ing awesome! Good on Bungie to do that for him. Plus the guy seemed like he was a nice kid, judging by his response letter, and definitely didn't deserve that poor treatment from Microsoft.

On one of the pages one of the links linked to, someone wondered if MS actually scrubbed it clean or switched it out. Anyways, that aside, Bungie just got a big boost in my respect for them - if only EA would learn a lesson of being awesome from Bungie, then there wouldn't be so many bugs

They scrubbed it clean. There are still parts of the console where you can see smudge marks.

Ahh, okay. Well, that's good then, I guess, in the way that it means someone else doesn't have it, who might've sold it for $$$, but if they did, they would've been an idiot as the XBox is was one of a kind and easily could have been traced online.
