As far as I know, the 8800 GT outperforms the 9600 GT, and can usually be found for less than the 9600.

Those are the 256MB ones, they're useless at higher resolutions. The cheapest "real" 8800GT is at $209.

And I think a decent brand GT is better than a crap GTS.
