you shouldn't pay to learn how to improve yourself...that's what all the other religions (or possibly therapy) are for.

If you die refusing medical treatment you hurt everyone around you, and you just made the world a little bit less good.

A Scientologist, such as myself, transcends the material world and becomes something truly special. I don't take medication or visit the doctor anymore because I know there's nothing they can do. What can they do? Offer me a placebo? Sure, placebos may work for some people, but what if you could be your own mental placebo -- if in one instance you decide "I want to be healed" and it works!

Scientology is all about helping yourself and helping others. Why is that such a bad thing?
Because it's a big crock of shit... invented by a science fiction writer.

You can make a conscious effort to better yourself and improve the world around you without needing a B-movie style background story to back up your world view. Why is reality not enough for most humans? We are here on earth, as humans we have a limited lifespan but we are capable of very wonderful (and very terrible) things and we if use our time wisely and make the most of our potential we can make this life a truly special thing. Why waste time worrying about what happens after we die when we will never know the truth?

Satirical thread in the D&ST section? No!
Regardless I'm going to take this opportunity to write my take on it all.

I'm more-or-less indifferent to Scientologists; we have a mutual understanding - they keep the fuck away from me and I don't jam a corkscrew into their eye. It's worked well so far.

The whole Anonymous thing and other people disagreeing with Scientologists was brought on by the fact that Scientologists beliefs have hurt others, namely in denying appropriate medical care which has lead to death and murder commited by people taken off their brain-meds. It's a bitch but causing harm seems to be a rite of passage for established religions, (most in fact still haven't got through this rite of passage.)

But if it all boils down to it we don't like Scientology because it's weird. Not weird in a good way either, but just plain and stupidly weird. Oh sure, you can say the same things about other religions too, Christanity believed the son of God came down, walked on water, invented alcoholism and came back to life after his crucifixion which is why we eat excessive amounts of chocolate every March. Weird when taken out of context I agree. Hindus believe in the sacred cow, although when considering how much one can get from a cow, (milk, cheese, yoghurt, poo and eventually, steak,) there is actually some sense in why it is so highly regarded. It's based on some kind of rationality. Cows give milk. Jesus was a guy who said some stuff. Mohummed was a sexist cunt etc. etc.

But where did Xenu come from? Why did we all evolve from a fucking clam? Why do we come closer to immortality whenever we burp, piss or fart? This makes no sense at all! Why do people get their electric-psychometer readings to find out how long intil they exreet enough vaporised and brainwashed alien souls before they become immortal, can leave their body at free will and start talking to animals? Lastly, why the fuck are so many people believing the word of a science-fiction writer? All these questions have no answers! It's fucking bat-shit crazy!

One can accuse the Bible, the Koran or other holy works of literature in the same light, when it comes down to it they were just books written by some guy. But we don't know who wrote these books, they were most likely compiled over a number of years. But we KNOW where Scientology comes from and we KNOW that a science-fiction writer created it. Scientologists have the benfit of having incredibly clear evidence that their beliefs are bullshit, it's not a matter of blind faith it's a matter of blind idiocy! Yet they still spend exorbitant amounts of money on it.

Pretty sad really. Anyway I've rambled and raved enough.

Most people hate it because someone/thing told them to.

I don't hate Scientology.  I think many of the practitioners are nutjobs, and I think the people who pretend to care enough about it to attend "protests" and create internet hate are retards with too much time on their hands.

Why should I occupy my emotions with something I see as nonsense?
