Laptop vs PC?

Hey guys

Ok so you've probably seen various threads about getting an M1330 ... so I'm wondering now which will run COD4 better, the M1330 or my current PC.

The settings I run COD4 at are;

Current PC	Laptop ... M1330
3.0 Ghz P4 530 w/HT	T8100 - 2.10 GHz
1.5GB PC3200 DDR Value Ram	2GB PC 5300 DDR2 RAM
80GB 7200 RPM HD + 250GB 7200 External HD	160GB 7200 RPM HD
512mb 7900GS	128mb 8400M GS

My Pc's clearly dated and I have to get a laptop anyway ...

Bearing in mind at present i get ... ~30 FPS, sometimes lower, on my PC ... would the laptop play the game at the same settings with a higher framerate? I understand the Video card's weaker on the laptop but the CPU etc. is considerably better ... bearing also in mind the laptop would be running probably 1200x800 res ... rather than 1440x900

Appreciate your thoughts ...

I don't know how good laptop graphics cards are but usually a PC is better for gaming (faster, and cheaper)

I know but what I'm saying is considering i have to get a laptop anyway which would play better

He's not asking which to get, he's asking which is better, what he has, or what he could get. To be honest, im not sure, But I know someone who has a laptop with an 8600 in it and he has to run COD4 in safe mode to get good fps (meaning 100-125, not 60).
I recently (two days ago) got a laptop with an 8800 gts in it, from gateway for only 1350 USD, but I guess your in the UK so it doesn't help much.
Oh well, I guess this post is basically a big "no".

Probably - laptops can overheat quickly and are in no way built for gaming (except the uhh...gaming ones )

Laptops also run hotter than PC's which will slow down your performance. If your getting a laptop, I'd use it for word processing/media and save the gaming for your desktop PC.

yup, I checked, but Im just thinking the 8400 is probably worse than that. I know he has all sorts of weird problems though, so it might just be his PC.

Oh that's surprising

Seems to get 20-30fps (probably all low) on crysis SP. Yeah, it's enough for light gaming then.

But your current will run better.
