I finally got my projector and I'm having a hard time figuring it out. Just for reference, the connections it has on the back are power, S-video (which is being used by my satellite connection, if it makes any difference), D-Sub/Comp-in (blue), RS232 (looks like S-video, with more holes), Video (single hole with yellow around it), and one of those little USB ports (same one that plugs into the top of a PSP to transfer stuff from PC to PSP, dunno if there is a special name for it). My 2 problems are:

1. There are no speakers, so I'm wondering what kind of speakers work with it/how do I plug in say PC speakers/what adapters do I need to do that? Basically, how do I get it to play sound.

2. I don't have a clue how to hook my Xbox 360 up to this thing. What connectors or adapters do I need to make this work?

If needed, I'll take a picture of the rear connections.

Well, for the sound thing, I say, you just hook up your speakers directly to the audio soruce (Xbox, PC, etc), without going through the projector at all.

As for the XBox, I think you have to go with the good old coaxial (Video in, the yellow ring thing <- LOL RIME), in lack of a HDMI input.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Think I'm right in saying if you have a surround speaker system or w/e you'll need an amp

Well, it's taken me over 2 months and I still haven't figured out how to get my Xbox or speakers to work with the projector. If I need to buy some kind of adapter or something, can someone link me with a product or tell me exactly what it is and where I can get it?

Also, I bought some new speakers today that are apparently only for computers (light green connection), despite what  the box said. Is there any adapter or way I can use to get those to work with the projector? If pics of the rear connections are needed, I'll take a few. Thanks a lot.

For a standard home cinema / projector station audio goes to the amp, which then goes to the speakers, which is in turn connected to the DVD / PC etc.

Thanks for the diagram, Orange, but unfortunately I haven't a clue as to how I decipher that to apply to my projector . I went ahead and took a picture of the rear connections:

The only one used is the S-VIDEO slot, which gives me picture from my DirecTV box. My only audio is through one small speaker that was part of a big surround sound PC system, and happened to have the right connector to go directly into the audio out of the satellite box (naturally, theres no volume control and it's the smallest speaker of the whole set).

Hello. Sorry I never got around or saw your post. what you can do is buy a Xbox 360 S-Video AV Cable which looks like

From your picture it looks like the s video cable is used only. I'm not sure if it will work though considering that it has three other plugs red yellow and green.  How ever if you go to best buy and buy this and try it out you can return it. You have nothing to loose.

This cable also has and optical plug as well. If you have computer speakers that you want to use all you have to do is buy and optical cable and plug it in to your pc. (your sound card has to have an optical plug in order for this to work otherwise don't bother with it unless you want to purchase a card with optics on it. The S-video cable should work on that projector. Mine has 2 sets of red yellow and green and more stuff.

Right now I have the 360 hooked up to a 5000watt amp and over 7 speakers with a massive sub. I will try to post pictures later.

Tip: If your projecting onto a wall buy a bed sheet and some wood. Constuct a wooden frame around the bed sheet so the bed sheet is nice and tight and then hang it on the wall. It might take 2 people total to align this properly. We got it done in under 20 mins.
If you end up trying the S-video cable for the 360 remember to save your reciept so you can return it and get your money back in full.

I'll be the third person to write this in the thread, but I'll do it in simpler terms:

Video is produced with a projector
Sound is produced through an amplifier.

I think you are probably missing the amplifier in your home theater set-up.  For example, you need one of these:

This would sit between your DirectTV / Xbox and speakers.
