Who doesn't love an operating system like this?
It says "Acquire software from the internet" in the red box.
Says that somewhere in the control panel.

in the add/remove programs, you can click an option on the left to "show updates." then just find SP1 and uninstall.ReDevilJR wrote:
How do you uninstall SP1?steelie34 wrote:
i had my first vista fail moment yesterday. after installing service pack 1, my headset stopped working. i uninstalled the service pack, and they are now working again. i guess that's more of a vendor issue than a vista issue, but why would a service pack mess that up?
I'm not the biggest fan of vista, SP1 isn't in Danish yet.
You forgot two:
Pros:
Only OS to completely support DirectX10
Cons:
Lack of support for OpenGL and OpenAL.

Wait, simpler interface is an upside?
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Unless you want your users to have no clue what's going on, yes.Freezer7Pro wrote:

Furthermore, I only posted what I've been hearing are downsides. My other laptop was fully capable of running Vista. This one, however, isn't. I miss it though, but I got a lot of tiny programs to replace it, like launchy
-konfusion

I can't stand the "new" control panel view in XP. Too basic.Gawwad wrote:

I litterarly hate the "new" nVidia control panel. Such a bother to make one simple setting, let alone get access to that setting.
I hate being limited, prompted and forced to check "advanced user" boxes. And then "Really advanced user". And then "I wanna change settings that this software don't want you to change" boxes.

I'm happy to say I fixed my issues with vista. I had to lower my over clock a little and up the voltage .025. I don't have anymore CTD and was able to play Supreme Commander for 3 hours straight!
My copy of Home Premium managed to break itself. I went to reinstall today, 3-4 BSOD's on install and every 5 minutes once I got it running. I'm buying XP in a couple days.
jus installed SP1, it would appear thet x86 now recognises all 4gb of ram I have, rather than 3.5
Can't you install it through Windows update? Or just download the standalone 5 language package? I'm not sure if we dutchies don't have SP1 yet, but I run an english version of the OS anyway.^*AlphA*^ wrote:

I like Vista a lot, and since SP1 it's been blazing fast for me. When I see the login screen appear it already disappears again and I have my desktop. Also the startup and other apps load very fast, and I don't have compatibility issues. Running Ultimate x64 with 4GB of RAM, and it's faster than XP for me, which is bugged too.
I also don't get all the bloating accusations? I never encountered anything wrong with my Vista.
but yeah, never got this bitching against Vista either, which software(operation system) doesn't have some bugs in the beginning honestly. (which are now gone)
Supposedly XP is getting a service pack 3 in July or something...
Also, Id get Vista just for poker, DX10 and awesome interface thinggy. Looks pretty sweet.
I wont get it because it would be too much of a resource hog, as you said. Id try to get an extra 2GB RAM and a better processor.... but Im gonna wait until I actually have a job and the price falls (It'll actually be quite some time before that happens... the new OS... Windows 2011 or something will probably by out then :\)

I have been using vista for about a year and at first it was really unstable and i really didnt like it but the drivers have gotten better and better as time has passed i havent gotten SP1 yet so hopefully it has gotten even more stable for me.
I have gotten so used too vista that I sometimes get lost when using the other PC's in my house that don't have vista.

M$ released sp1 for most users, and then pulled it from automatic updates after they received so many complaints about compatibility issues. you can still download the standalone installer, but you won't get it through auto updates until they fix itxGj wrote:

Lol. Good one MS. For me SP1 has worked nothing but wonders.
