What happened next, Andrews reports, propelled him into the future of medicine. Spievack's brother, Alan, a medical research scientist, sent him a special powder and told him to sprinkle it on the wound.

"I powdered it on until it was covered," Spievack recalled.

To his astonishment, every bit of his fingertip grew back.

his finger tip was chopped off 4 years ago. he put this powder his researcher relative sent him and within 4 weeks his finger tip grew back, nail and all.

Yea, I thought he grew the whole finger back or something. Title is misleading =P. As for the powder it was probably a placebo.

Fingertips can and do grow back. The powder probably just kickstarted a process that should've happened anyway. I think. Basically, I don't think this magic powder will work anywhere else on the human body. Maybe the toes if they have a tendency to grow back like fingertips do

I'm sure if you cut some other part of your body off (use your imagination) and then applied the powder, it wouldn't work

They actually use the regenerative properties of the liver(only organ that can regrow itself) to regrow other things such as lungs, kidneys, limbs, etc.
