Anyone using this?  I think its cool as hell.

The light coming from the Windows symbol is moving around on the screen.  All it is however is a 30mb movie in a loop but at high resolution.  Its only on Windows Vista Ultimate however.

This can be done with VLC, I think.

EDIT: Yup, it can. Just open a video and go to Video -> Wallpaper. Works on XP, at least.

Hell, I even have the videos (Vista light and a waterfall) that come with it

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I just started VLC with the glowy Vista-thingy. Uses way too much CPU power, though. Maybe the "real" thing is better at that.

Yea I have no noticed any performance loss at all.  But then again i'm running a high end GPU and mid range CPU.

Hehe, yeah. If someone has a quad, this could be something to waste a core at Unlike my lappy's 1.6GHz Pentium M.

Dude! That's sweet, works with XP and VLC as well btw. Is there a way to have VLC and the movie play in the background on startup, so I don't have to open the program each time? *goes away to play with it*

Yea I have Dreamscene, but tbh I don't like it. I try to keep my computer free from as most as possible crap because I'd like to have good gaming results. I do have a high end CPU + GFX but I just don't want to waste it on that. I tried it out a couple of times it's really cool but crashed my video drivers too.. I can live without it

I downloaded all the updates for this, I just can't seem to be able to enable this option. I right clicked the mouse and I saw where you can enable dream scene but it wouldn't let me find anything. Can anyone help me out ?

When its greyed out to, "Pause Dreamscene" ?

You have to find a video file, Right click it, and click "Set as Desktop"

and bam.

I torrented a few but I like static backgrounds, they tend to be cleaner and less of a resource to deal with

it does, but theres a setting in VLC to remember playback, which gets rid of all the decoding after the first playback that vlc does automatically; stores it in the RAM, but its something like 14mb for 2 minutes of playback. kinda confusing sentence, but it does work...first time thrugh i got 20% useage on CPU3, second time it was 5%. 5% on 1/4 of your cores is not gonna give you any noticeable difference.

The great thing, it is sensitive. If you maximize a window, it'll stop moving and become a still image; so you still have all the CPU power you need.

I found this funny. If you stare close enough the people aren't moving just the water. This one would be great if the people weren't there.

For all you guy's that want the matrix code on your desktop. Download this file

http://www.savefile.com/download/104275 … 6fd3e5f3ba

right click personalize, click on desktop background, select windows Dreamscene content, click on the browse button. Drag the file and place it into the dream scene movies folder. right click it and select the size of the video. and enjoy. It's not hd but it's something.

If you guys want some nice dreams for vista try wincustomize. They have a section dedicated to them some are crap, and some are very well done. I recommend "solar flare" and "spirit dance"  http://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?libid=50

Yep - really cool. Also, very smart in that when you have something full screen it stops playing - thus saving CPU power.
