Ok I'm having problems settling on what settingg my current set up should handle playing battlefield 2 - at the moment to get anywhere near a decent framerate I run at 860x600 all settings medium except lighting & shadows which are set to low, also have AA switched off.
Even at these settings some of the maps where intense battles can occur my framerate drops to an near stagger through treacle!!

My Pc is as follows

GA-7VT600 1394
sempron 2300+ ~1.6GHz
Radeon Sapphire X800 pro "Cat 5.13 drivers"
2x 512 Kingston PC3200

Is there anyway I can get a little more oomph out my cpu - tried upping the clock speed from 166 to 200 - booted up fine but then got the blue screen of death ^ ^ so I quickly reverted back :-)

honestly, with that system, i'm surprised you can even run it at medium.  there are a few threads on here that talk about tweaking your compy to run BF2 better...a search should turn up a few things...

i have a p4 3.0ghz, geforce6800, and a gig of ram...and i run mine on all lowest settings (it'll actually run at all high, but then it takes like 3 minutes to get back to my desktop).  i just bought another gig and an x-fi soundcard...should be interesting to see what i can run it at when i get back up to school

If thats the case seems the system requirements for this particular game are insanely high - Guess Dice reckon we are all minted ^ ^

Thanks for the input - I'll start saving up my pennies.
