With a mac, I don't have to "configure" it to make it work properly. I've had countless problems with windows:

So yeah, maybe what i mean is that their OS is awesome.
Never had to 'configure' windows to make it work properly here. Install and away you go.
Then I must be retarded, because I've had problems with almost every PC I've owned (crashes etc).

My wife's Mac laptop is NOT even remotely comparable to daughter's Vista laptop. Both cost the same price. The Mac is a performance slug when compared to the PC-Vista counterpart. Why? You get more (hardware; better hardware) for your money. The number of Windows that can be open on the Mac before overall OS performance degrades is extremely low when compared to the PC, and task switching is not that smooth. Plus Safari sucks and the OS interface is too dumbed-down for my tastes (note: the Vista Machine was preloaded and the OS settings were all pre-set just like a Mac is - when you by a retail fully loaded configured machine). FYI: Both GUI interfaces are ripoffs of what Xerox developed back in the late 70's early 80's. The Mac OS simply got a hard start in the (Windowing, mouse, fonts, etc: GUI) ripoff race.

And, the Mac has a peculiar hardware issue. It won't stay on unless it's plugged into the recharger. But my wife loves her Mac. Why? It's a Mac, it's white and it's got an Apple logo on it!

There's your problem!
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
