CoD4 will definitely be laggy with a Sempron... those things are slooow

Well, your motherboard is a Socket A one, which is discontinued since years back. Finding a new CPU for it would be hard, and it wouln't even be a half-decent CPU, as the max bus speed for Socket A is 400MHz.a_reborn_vetaran wrote:
What can I do about it?
Please the budget isn't to great.

He could get an p31 gigabyte motherboard, they are €65 euro and awesome. Build a pc for a friend of mine with it.Freezer7Pro wrote:

Yhere is, however, a pretty cheap way to get you a half-decent system, and that's called Conroe-L.
Now, don't kill me for suggesting Conroe-L, fellow Tech whores, but this is for building a system that can manage CoD4 decently for now, and to be upgraded later on.
If you get a Pentium Dual-Core E2160, and a decent motherboard, you can get a decent, or an acceptable graphics card. This would let you play CoD4 on low-med settings smoothly, without putting a lot of cash into it, whiles allowing you to upgrade to a better CPU and graphics card later on. You can also overclock that CPU a lot.
Remember that you'll need new DDR2 RAM, anda new PSU with that. Note that that RAM won't like much overclocking.
This is about as cheap as it gets, I'm afraid. Going for an AGP card for that system wouldn't be a good idea, since it'd become obselte quickly, and is over powered for it.
Sounde like a plan. Have you got any idea of how it performs with overclocking, as that's a must with the Pentium Dual Cores.']['error wrote:

Don't know, as I put in an E6750 for my friend there was no need for overclocking. But I think it does well, I'll try and dig something up on google.Freezer7Pro wrote:

Um, unless I'm absolutely blind, GPU-Z states AGP. And it's a 5500, ffs.Freezer7Pro wrote:

Also lol @ that 5500 being slower than my Mobility Radeon 9200.

Ahem, I just did.a_reborn_vetaran wrote:
Thanks already for your help.
So I'll just need to buy a new CPU and Graph card?
Can some one make a nice list with specific names and prices ?
THANK YOU!!!
