Alright, does $470 strike anyone as extreme?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6813131274

Perhaps it's just an excuse to not drive down the price of the 780 series.

XFX and EVGA's are cheaper by $100...

Well, there's gotta be something leet about it...
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Also comes with a SupremeFXII sound card. And the popular, reliable "ASUS" brand and warranty. The whole sensor and LED thing would be handy for a serious overclocker probably; I'm sure it'd warrant the $100 extra dollars to them; maybe not to us.

Well it does come with watercooling and all those useless asus accessories
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

Useless? I actually use the bulk of the accessories I got with my P5W DH Deluxe! Some of it is really handy; others I have no idea why they included but it's like "hey okay, i'll use it!"

Asus owner here too (P5N32-e SLI). It's not that they aren't handy and all that, but I could do just as well without them

Looks nice but the water cooling parts already on the board need to go along with the pci-e 16x slot or replaced with a 2.0.

Too bad DDR3 is still kinda crazy and the timings are horrible   Think am right in saying the quickest 3dmark record is still using DDR2.

I'd keep the wi-fi and drop extras like the sound card, if I could, but ASUS wants to make a push against Creative. I suppose it's good for business both ways, but leaves me with an extra part that's just going to get replaced by an X-Fi in something like a gaming rig, anyway. They'd do better to put it in their mid-line MB's.

It is, but I'd rather they let us waste our money on them if we really want them and knock 50 bucks off the price. And I wish they'd stop putting those caps so close to the CPU socket. Means you can't rotate the CPU cooler for those of us with large fans in the tops of our rigs.

That's all well and fine, but there needs to be a trimmed down edition for people who don't need what are essentially duplicates of what they already have.

A trimmed version of what? I'm confused. It sounds like you agree with me, but don't. :S
