I'm looking at getting the: XFX GEFORCE 8600GT 256MB-540M DUAL DVI PCIE for about $140. My motherboard is kinda old so it limits my selection.

That's a horrible price for a horrible card. And if that card fits into your computer, a GeForce 9800GX2 will also fit.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. yeah, that does seem rather expensive. Also the 8600GT is not really a good card. For the mid end a 9600GT or a HD3850 would be much better

For _less_ than that price, get a HD3850. Or a 8800GT for $35 more.

All the GTs with >512mb menory are good. 256mb ones aren't that much of good deals..

New card looks good... although one thing.... 8800 is a fair bit longer than 8600.. so just make sure it will fit in ur case lol... otherwise u will feel like an idiot.

too bad for me 8800 wont fit in my case and i cant be bothered doing full upgrade yet...
