Zionists really do have too much power in America, but it's not just Jewish Zionists, it's actually mostly Christian Zionists that have the power in the AIPAC/military industrial complex connection.

Granted, CAIR is no better.  CAIR just doesn't have the same power level that AIPAC has.

I know how much power Zionists have in America, it's freaky. I just think America needs to grow a pair and start taking control of it's own affairs and stop pandering to the parasite that is Israel... they do nothing but take, take, take. People always argue 'They're our only ally in that region' but what the fuck do they actually offer the US?

The really scary thing is the Christian Zionist element; they want Israel to exist because of the biblical connotations that comes with that and that implies they're planning on an end of days/rapture style scenario.

Basically....  We're fighting Islamists with explicit control over their governments, while we ourselves have Evangelical warmongers with implicit control over our government.

In short, we're both fucked.

I understand, and agree - to a certain extent.  The relationship (Israel/US) costs taxpayers billions of dollars.  However, those transactions net the players (power elite/cronies/corrupt politicos/whatever you want to call them) millions upon millions of dollars for their own bank accounts.  It (the relationship) is one of many ways the above-referenced power players fleece the American public.  Unfortunately, the American people suffer, the Palestinians suffer, the Israelis suffer, all because certain factions keep the street corner shell game going.

If Obama's vetting process allows a douche like McPeak to be his national campaign co-chair, it does nothing for Obama's credibility or judgment. This is a man who led an organization of ~400,000 people...the majority of whom were praying for his retirement or firing.

Wouldn't follow him...even out of curiosity.

Obama is fucking the dog in public with his choices of advisors. Just good that we're seeing it now instead of after he's elected (a la Bush).

So, yeah, do you agree or disagree with his statements, or do you want to keep attacking McPeak as a person?

As far as I can determine McPeak will have absolutely nothing to do with Middle East foreign policy and Obama disagrees with him anyway so who cares what his views are? The important things are his views on the topics he is going to be advising Obama on and whether Obama shares these views. If you think he's going to be crap at the job he's actually going to potentially do then fair enough.

As far as US Zionists adverse influence on the Israeli/Palestinian peace process, it's certainly not an unreasonable statement. They've traditionally held quite seperate viewpoints from the majority of Israeli Jews. The power of Aipac to influence policy is fairly self evident (Fortune magazine rates them the second most powerful lobbying group).
