...because people can't handle the truth.  The shit that Wright said is just stupid, but what McPeak is saying is true.

Zionists really do have too much power in America, but it's not just Jewish Zionists, it's actually mostly Christian Zionists that have the power in the AIPAC/military industrial complex connection.

Granted, CAIR is no better.  CAIR just doesn't have the same power level that AIPAC has.
I know how much power Zionists have in America, it's freaky. I just think America needs to grow a pair and start taking control of it's own affairs and stop pandering to the parasite that is Israel... they do nothing but take, take, take. People always argue 'They're our only ally in that region' but what the fuck do they actually offer the US?

The really scary thing is the Christian Zionist element; they want Israel to exist because of the biblical connotations that comes with that and that implies they're planning on an end of days/rapture style scenario.

Basically....  We're fighting Islamists with explicit control over their governments, while we ourselves have Evangelical warmongers with implicit control over our government.

In short, we're both fucked.

Actually I give the guy a little bit of a break because things have changed a little in the last five years.

Anyone who thinks it's a conflict between Israel and the Palestinians is living five years ago. Today the Palestinians are just caught in the middle.

The population he speaks of as "cosmopolitan and liberal minded" is a large chunk of the population of Israel, not just an outcast group.  Look at the many organizations in place (both in the US and Israel) that are trying to foment peace between Palestinians and Jews.  It is the hard-liners in both the US and Israel that are hindering the peace process.

Israel is an ally in the region.  Of course we are acting for the self-interest of the US and Israel - we want regional stability along with our economic interests.  It may not make it right, but he (McPeak) certainly isn't saying anything not completely obvious.
Ken, Israel brings America little or no strategic benefit and actually costs the US billions of dollars. Overfunding one nation and underfunding others right next to it creates a perilous imbalance in living standards regionally which will only end in tears. By mollycoddling Israel they're actually driving nails into its coffin as far as I can see.
I understand, and agree - to a certain extent.  The relationship (Israel/US) costs taxpayers billions of dollars.  However, those transactions net the players (power elite/cronies/corrupt politicos/whatever you want to call them) millions upon millions of dollars for their own bank accounts.  It (the relationship) is one of many ways the above-referenced power players fleece the American public.  Unfortunately, the American people suffer, the Palestinians suffer, the Israelis suffer, all because certain factions keep the street corner shell game going.

The best thing McPeak did for the Air Force was retire.

The man is an unmitigated douchebag.

In 13 years of active duty, I haven't met a single Airman who was around when McPeak was that had anything but spite for that waste of skin.

The fact that Obama chose him to be one of his advisors tells me more about Obama's judgment than just about anything else.

What happens at strike three?

Do you agree/disagree with his statements, or do you just want to attack him as a person?

The strikes are against Obama, not against McPeak. McPeak struck out long ago.

If Obama's vetting process allows a douche like McPeak to be his national campaign co-chair, it does nothing for Obama's credibility or judgment. This is a man who led an organization of ~400,000 people...the majority of whom were praying for his retirement or firing.

Wouldn't follow him...even out of curiosity.

Obama is fucking the dog in public with his choices of advisors. Just good that we're seeing it now instead of after he's elected (a la Bush).

So, yeah, do you agree or disagree with his statements, or do you want to keep attacking McPeak as a person?

I still want to know what happens at strike three.

I disagree with most of his statements regarding this issue. And I'm not attacking McPeak as a person...I'm attacking his flawed positions on a number of issues, the last of which were heard from him when he was CSAF.

And why do you care what happens when a metaphor plays out? There will likely be a strike 6 or 8 before Obama's done, at the rate he's going.

Size 12!? F*ckin hell.
I'm pretty sure the sizes are different in the states.
Size 12 US is 11 in UK sizes. I'm a 12UK/13US.

EDIT: Sweet, I have bigger feet than a Presidential candidate.

Unless this is heavily laden with sarcasm, the use of "(everyone knows that)" destroys any credibility this post might have had.

That's more an attack on his lack of leadership skills than on him as a person.

Isn't one of McCain's supporters and likely advisers James "Fuck the Jews, they don't vote for us anyway" Baker?

As far as I can determine McPeak will have absolutely nothing to do with Middle East foreign policy and Obama disagrees with him anyway so who cares what his views are? The important things are his views on the topics he is going to be advising Obama on and whether Obama shares these views. If you think he's going to be crap at the job he's actually going to potentially do then fair enough.

As far as US Zionists adverse influence on the Israeli/Palestinian peace process, it's certainly not an unreasonable statement. They've traditionally held quite seperate viewpoints from the majority of Israeli Jews. The power of Aipac to influence policy is fairly self evident (Fortune magazine rates them the second most powerful lobbying group).
