HELP! Icons are fux'd

My icons are fuxed. I was searching a folder using the search function and changed the searching preferences. Somehow that made the icon for that folder turn into the search icon, and only that folder. I was like so I changed the preferences back to what they were. Then this shit happened.

I have no clue what went wrong or how to fix, can anyone help me, please? I could reformat, but it's such a hassle and I'm saving it as a last resort. Please please help me

Least Firefox works

It won't restore all of them, but TweakUI has a refresh tool.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, I used TweakUI's repair icons tool and it fucked it up even worse.

Everything still opens the way it should. It's only the icons.

I did a system restore and about half the icons are fixed. Folder icons, everything in 'My Computer,' and everything on the left side of the start menu except firefox are still messed up.

Have a look in File Associations. See if there's anything amiss. Mebe you can click Restore on each and every filetype.

Just wondering, if you try to manually change the icons back to normal, do they stay or go back to that generic icon?

When I go to properties>customize for a folder, it shows the normal folder icon. I tried reapplying it but it stayed the same.

Also, I did some more googling and found some stuff about restarting in safe mode then restarting back in normal mode which supposedly rebuilds the icon cache. So when I got into safe mode, all the icons were fixed! And I was like Then I restarted in normal mode and they were fux'd again

Alright, problem solved. Did the TweakUI rebuild icons thing again and it worked. Dunno why it didn't work the first time. Thanks for all your help guys, I appreciate it.
