Idk what is wrong ... lately I've been getting aches in either of my shoulders, not both at the same time, and it's really painful. I like to work out every day ... alternating between a 10/30 minute row and weights excercises ... it has been fine from the start but just lately my shoulders have been killing me ... it hurts to lift my arm above my chest It's that bad I can't work out for the next 2/3 days which is really beginning to annoy me ... idk if it's because i leave a window open to let the air circulate when I work out? Is it the draft doing it?

You sure you're warming up properly? Most upper body lifting revolves around the shoulders, just google shoulder warm ups and stuff. I used to have it pretty bad but only in my left shoulder, especially when doing shoulder press, doctor said to give it a break, tried it and didn't work, I dunno if this is sound advice, but I just worked through it, maybe use smaller weights on the exercises it hurts more on.

Hmm .. well I tend to ease myself in on the rower for a few minutes ... always thought that was a sufficient warm-up? Or not?

Well i cant really see why after one month you are experiencing something you should have experienced in the first week, unless you had an incredible intense workout, or you allowed your body to relax a bit too long before doing your routine again.

Do not continue working out while it hurts like this. You might give yourself a hernia as the rest of your body compensates for the "hurt" and weakness. I would recommend just plain old running/jogging and some serious stretching, see if it goes away after a few days. I remember working out after a long period off and not being able to move my arms for like 4 days

also, cut back on the weight you are using, your technique may be off. <--- hopefully its this one and nothing to serious

Cold air is not ruining your workout

Arnold used to work out in a garage in the winter with the door wide open. He said it was so cold his hands would stick to the metal

also you shouldnt work out 7 days in a row without break, schedule a couple days off in between or at least one midweek and sunday

that excersize routine is madness wtf are you a professional athlete?

i dont know where you got it from, but that has fail written all over it unless your working out with 15 lb weights and trying to lose weight

That's more of a warm ups for your legs and forearms, the amount of times I've seen people go on the mats, stretch their calves hams then jump on the bench, doing cardio before weights is like gettin your heart rate going for the work out ahead of you, you need to warm your joints up, stretching your arm across your chest, swinging your arms around in a circular motion (above your head and behind you) or standing parallel to a wall and stretching your arm behind you...all good for the shoulder before a work out.

Stop the shoulder presses and try fly's. At least long enough to see if there is a change.
Shoulder presses are an unnatural motion for your pectoral girdle.

er.. you can do flies with dumbells.

But machines are a good safe alternative if you are working through a temporary injury. (Go see any rehab clinic)

You could be working out your shoulders too much(3 days a week), but your only doing 3 sets each time so it seems unlikely.

Soreness = normal. You need to make sure that soreness ceases before working that muscle group again.

Pain = you fucked something up. Take some time off. If it doesn't go away after a week, I would suggest making an appointment with your physician.

Out of curiosity, why are you only working out your shoulders and biceps?

I actually started doing because of the pain. I was pinching a nerve with the vertical pressure on my joints. Eventually I even started getting numbness . I get results with flies, and to be honest they are more versatile. Front, side, and rear are easily hit. With presses there is only a window in terms of the range of motion that targets your shoulders. Your triceps kick in once you reach about mid point. Whereas flies are nearly continuous strain on your deltoids.

Everyone is different of course, but thats what works for me.

yeah, but the presses i do are mandated for throwing in track - incline for shot and discus.

personally i dont exactly want huge man boobs and i would love for the mass to be moar spread out...but w/e, i gotta do it.

That makes sense for that activity. But for someone who wants to get into body sculpting there are better alternatives.

That's why I said body sculpting. Not everyone wants to gain mass . I used to, not anymore.

just asked a few mates what the problem could be, first of is it a muscle ache if yes, then you are not given your self time to heal, basically what you are doing is tearing your muscles everytime you lift weights, the cylce is this LIFT=TEAR=HEAL, now this is the important stuff, the healing process is the part that actually makes your muscles bigger kind of scaring your muscles, you know when you cut your self the skin becomes harder where you cut it, leaving a scar (NOT TALKING ABOUT A GRAZE). my advice to you is cut down the daily routine and do it every other day. also are you using free weights, the reason i ask is, free weights make you use both your arms building them up at the same level, but its been known that using machines can disbalance the build up of one side.

if its joint pain, rest for 3 days, you may have only pulled a ligament or just bruised your self. any way hope that helps a little.. good luck

Even if you're trying to work out different groups you shouldn't be doing it every day. Do 2 days working on different groups each day then take a day off and repeat.

As you're working out everyday your shoulders aren't having time to heal, and you do end up using your shoulders for most arm-based exercises because they're strong so they make the exercise easier. Your routine also doesn't have many exercises for the back, might wanna schedule some in because if you work the chest without the back you're gonna get aches.

I think it's the rowing that's killing your shoulders put the resistance down or alternate between jump rope and rowing.
Oh and why no leg exercises? Add some squats, deadlifts and forward lunges.

Your body grows in proportion by working your legs your allowing your upper body to grow more too. Unless you wanna look like an upside down pyramid.

You should at least rest a muscle group for a day before working it again.

I also recommend glucosamine gel to put on your joints if they ache. It's available at holland and barrat.
