Soreness = normal. You need to make sure that soreness ceases before working that muscle group again.
Pain = you fucked something up. Take some time off. If it doesn't go away after a week, I would suggest making an appointment with your physician.
Out of curiosity, why are you only working out your shoulders and biceps?
Also yes I am using free weights.
