They're not going to press charges. They would have too many people up in arms--It's just a figure of speech-- against it. The news is just trying to dramatize the whole incident --as if that is necessary-- in order to draw more outrage.

I would do the same for any member of my family, especially my mother. That kid and the mother should be questioned extensively just to make sure things were legit when it all went down. The child should be let off the hook and sent in to therapy asap.

I agree entirely - if it's the case. I'm not sure about the story, but should it have happened like that he should not be charged - he has the right to protect his mother, even if killing the guy may have been a bit...over the top

The kid observing the grave bodily harm or death being thrust upon his mother, acted as any adult would and has the basic civil and constitutional right to preserve the life of his mother. There was no great disparity of force, rather it was quite equal...he being a 12 year old "child" and the grown man..a grown man. Even if the kid shot the man, it'd be equal disparity to a jury.
