Is it me,or do i hav a curse?

Every computer i've ever owned has failed in some way:

1st ever computer, for christmas years and years ago, virus destroyed it totally, only the keyboard and scanner which was used once have survived for about 10 years.

2nd computer (still in use) Has had numerous viruses, crashed due to me hundreds of times, corrupted by me once or twice causing the need to reinstall XP, despie the fact it is slow, has small memory and a crappy CPU, 10 year old keyboard it is still the most used computer in the family, probably will be for years to come.

3rd computer (still in use) Several viruses, Virgin PC guard totally crashed, needed to be totally reset after this, allergic to BF2 (causes a blank blue screen sometimes) RAM is faulty already after 2 years at christmas (last) (is that normal for RAM to die that fast?) Also the mouse feels non-responive, or slow sometimes, the keyboard has a tendency to freeze and needs to be plugged back in again (mouse did that once) and just basicly feels fragile, if you know what i mean.

Is it just me, or has this happened to other people?

I'm noticing a trend. I think you should restrict what you are downloading - that is the only way you can get a virus (unless you go and run a CD with a virus in it)

and you're an idiot if you get viruses. I don't even use an AV program and I avoid them.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Yeah seriously do you just go around looking for viruses? I've run a PC for 2 years with no AV and only picked up 2 viruses, and that was me DLing dodgy crap, I use AV now BTW, I suggest you go find a better one.

No no its not the viruses i'm concerned with (most) of them had nothing to do with me, i'm more concerned about why this luck happens to me.

If they had nothing to do with you, how did they get there?

If it is your machine, stop letting people use it.

We have at least 7 computers in this house, all at least two years old, and haven't had any major virus problems with any of them.

In all the years I've owned PCs (since '93) I've only had 4 failures.

- old samsung HD (6HB?) died 2 years ago
- stick of rdram went bad, had it RMA'ed
- The PSU of my PII PC died last year with a spectacular bang and loads of smoke. Not surprising considering it's age and that it was a "value" PC
- The PSU of my HP laptop died last week and fried something inside the laptop. Still works but won't charge batteries. RMAing right now. hooray for cheap manufacturing in china.

i.e. treat your stuff well, keep it clean and nothing should happen. Components die, but that is to be expected after a decade of heavy usage. You can be unlucky once, but it shouldn't happen more than once.

once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

On my both my computers all that we have are AVG free and on one of them Comodo Firewall. Neither of them have every had virus problems either. You just have to have common sense on the internet. Don't download from suspicious sites, etc.

i've replaced countless dell mobo's in their desktops and laptops.  only other problems are some failed hard drives in a server every once in a while... nothing major.

Computers do what people tell them do. Luck is a non-issue. If you don't want it to do something, then don't tell it to. As well, it is your responsibility to make sure others don't tell it what to do. That is also not up to luck. They may try, you have to stop them, there is no roll of the dice.

It seems you were never educated in this. It's not a big problem, as no one is expected to know how to run a computer well the first time they use one and it's not something you generally pick up over time. So I suggest you learn.

Over 3 years the biggest problem I had on my computer was amvo, which I can't find any records on if it's even more then an annoyance.

Actually, I think fapping with other men over MSN shows why you get viruses.
