the simple answer is, why would dice put in the option to change that if it didn't do anything, i doubt that they are even that dumb

i changed my setting when i started playing, guess what, now i can turn much faster, but because changing those settings don't do anything i must have some leet ninja haxz

this thread is getting pointless
Actually..lol they did. Go to the boat controls, there should be two controls for opening the boat or something. A feature that never actually made it into the full game but apparently was in previous version of BF2

I facepalm'd at this thread. The maturity of these forums is at the lowest mark in the BF2 section. By far.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I use them at 10, and regular flying mouse sens at 6, I believe.

Kinda OT, but, anyone know if its possible to change your sensitivity on the fly? High sens sucks ass for using the MG, but low sens sucks ass for maneuvering.

Logitech G5 mice will change DPI settings whenever you want.

They are 'mouse settings', so I think not, but not sure as I've never used a stick for BF2.

I don't know if this is true, but to the best of my knowledge...

Yaw & Pitch alters at what ratio a full mouse sideways will do compared to vertically.

So, if I set my Yaw at 1 and Pitch at 10. That would mean that my mouse would move 90% slower going up than it would if I did the same distance mouse movement sideways. Or the other way around.

Perhaps that's wrong, but what I believe it to be. So having Yaw/Pitch both at a number will make no difference, be it at 1 or 10.

That would make sense, but it's not always best to apply logic to BF2

As been said previously, sensitivity can make a big difference. Having said that, there are other factors as well. Like do you play with the mouse set at 800dpi? 1600?, 2000+?

For starters I always play at 800dpi. I have found it allows the smoothest gameplay for me on any game.

At 800 dpi mouse setting try your commom controls at about 1.8. Not too slow, and not too fast or twitchy for ground pounding. 1.8 was very fluid in the days I played.

Vehicles: Pump it up to about 4.5-5.5. You need that sensitivity to swing those turrets around in a flash. It helps when you can swing the main gun on a APC, tank or wheeled vehicle in full 360 motion without having to pick up the mouse.

Aircraft: around 7-8

Main thing is to play around with it, find what feels comfortable to you.
Last thing I will say about it.... if you leave it at 1, people will be running circles around you andyou will not be able to keep up. Been there, done that.

Sensitivity makes no difference at all. All it does is change how sensitive your controls are (OMFG what a shock!!!)

It's all personal preference, and no set up is better then any other except to the individual.

Of course it is all preference, but, yes they do help. Try turning the turrert of a APC from it's front to it's rear with a setting of  1 without picking up the mouse. It's impossible.  You don't have to pick up the mouse at 5 though.

It may or may not make you a better player. But, it will help make a quicker response in attacking or defending multiple targets coming from multiple directions. So yes, it does make a difference. You would think with someone who has 1300+hrs playing the game should have already figured this out.

I do all the time and it's far from impossible.

Coot11M wrote:

No it wont. I just means you wont have to move our mouse as far to do so.

Coot11M wrote:

It does not and can not change how fast a vehicle or person can turn or aim. All it does is change how fast or far you need to move your mouse to accomplish that. Higher sensitivity is not better, either is low sensitivity. The only thing that matters is what you prefer.

People sprouting shit like that, are just that, full of shit. I could 'pwn' just as well with 1 sensitivity, if that's what works for me.

You'd be the first.

DrunkFace wrote:

You're arguing semantics and don't even know it. But, thanks for proving my entire point anyway. Riddle me this, if you claim I don't have to move my mouse at 5 as far as you do at 1, as you state clearly state above. Who do you think gets to the point they want to be quicker, ie; faster? Me moving me mouse 2 inches, or you moving yours 10? Do you not see that me moving my mouse 10 inches at a setting of 5, and you moving your 10 at a setting of 1, that I will moves 5x the distance as you in that 10 inches of mouse movement? This is simple logic... common sense.

The answer is very obvious that having to move your mouse 2 inches take less time than it does 10.

And let's not forget about space. Maybe someone doesn't have the mouse pad space to move their mouse 10-12 inches in either direction.

Where did state anything remotely about aiming? I have not put words in your mouth, kindly offer me the same respect. As fasr as the rest,  se my response from above.

I just tested it (singleplayer/infantry).
This is what they do:
increase Yaw Factor only: increases the speed You turn around
increase Pitch Factor only: increases the speed You look up/down
increase both: nothing happens

so if You want to look very fast only sideways put Yaw factor at 10
if You want to look very fast only up and down put Pitch factor at 10
if You want to look very fast both sideways AND up and down increase Sensitivity

I don't know if it works when Your flying.

(Sensitivity 2.0 + 1000dpi mouse = Sensitivity 1.0 + 2000dpi mouse right? But the "feel" is slightly different in my opinion)
