Apart from those 2, what is the best single core card on the market?

This ain't quite up-to-date, but the 8800 Ultra gives good game.

And this shows the 9800 GTX is close behind.

But you may find locating a 8800 Ultra a little difficult...

If you can find it and your screen has a high resolution the ultra if not then the 9800gtx. The best bang for your buck is the 8800gts though.
