Found this on techeblog.com, sorry if it was already posted (would search, but yeah....), and sorry if it's "cOLD."

Apparently one of the Buran's (click for wikipedia article) had to be transported down the Rhine to where it will eventually come to rest at the Technik Museum Speyer in Mannheim, Germany. Four pictures below, followed by video made by slightly random ADHD person (randomly films other things, usually on Buran on the Rhine).

After reading that a few times to understand what you wrote, I guess yeah, it would be failburan is fail since the program was unsuccessful.

Sure why not.  Back to the topic on hand, I just recently spent the last hour or two in wikipedia reading up on the shuttle program/orion program/ares I and V rockets/ISS/MIR.

um.... I was surprised at how easily reading about space-related topics wasted my entire evening, preventing me from doing any homework. (in a nutshell)

Anyways, kinda sad our (U.S.) shuttle will be retired here in a few years   And we're going back to capsules again *slaps head*

that thing never flew.

but the space shuttle will soon be joining it in the realm of aviation history.

Can't wait to see what the final replacement will be.

the cool thing about this thing is that it is able to drop from space into the atmosphere drop a nuke and then fly up again (it was believed the us shuttle had this ability by the russians so they incorporated this into their design) absolutely the best first strike capability i have ever heard of since it's virtually undetectable.

Why does the shuttle do drop into the atmosphere to launch a nuke? iirc icbms have a heat shield for reentry.

Coz it's undetectable. AWSM plan if you ask me.

They also have a french Concorde and the russian counterpart Antonov somewhat right besides the Autobahn in Sinsheim. Antonov was shipped in 2004 or 5 the same way.
