The GT in motion, spanking the Charger.  The GXP will be even faster.

seen the G8 sport truck?  My father will be ordering one when they roll off the line.  I currently own the 2008 Grand Prix GXP as there was no such thing as the G8 at the time.  But still ... so nice.

Price of BMW and Audi are what, two times the Pontiac?  Cost to insure the BMW and Audi would also be astronomical when compared to the G8.

Yeah, for all the reasons already listed and more - I'll take the G8 every time.  The winner of the name contest is either being decided or announced today as well for the G8 Sport Truck ... eeeEEEEEE

They're 16 times better looking though. And the article makes no mention of price. I'm willing to bet by the time it gets over here there won't be much difference in it.

A few days ago, I was out car shopping with my grandmother (she bought a Buick Lucern Super CXL...shes 75...) and was at the local Pontiac dealer...

They had loads of info on the new G8 (and the GXP) so I picked up a brocure...impressive car for sure.  But I gotta tell ya, if the interior quality is that of other pontiac models, the car wont sell well.
Impressive tho it is, its fit and finish may be a problem.

The G8 is being billed as the fastest American production sedan ever.  I'll need independant confirmation on that...

Pontiacs handle well, no doubt of that, and I am sure Pontiac has made the G8 (particularly its GXP brother) handle like a sled.  Sure, it may show obviously that the thing has a monster curb wieght, but put it against similarly priced cars...and its capabilities may surprise you.

It may like curves almost as much as I do

That's the central question
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

So how much is it? If it's half the price*  I'd consider it. But also there's the cornering issue like Finny says... American cars don't like corners much...

and yeah yeah I read the Nürburgring part... I still have doubts tho...

*(and if I had that kind of money to spend on a car in the first place)

Aren't you the guy who said Corvette can't corner? The G8 has met many corners, watch the video and edmunds described the performance as "bmw-like" with suspension like that used in a 5 series bimmer.  It did .85g on the skid pad, 66mph slalom, 0-60  5.4sec, 13.5 ¼ mile at 105mph.

Again, watch the video, it gives the pricing details.  Base is just under 30K.

Oh and M5 base for 2008? $83K.  535i which Edmunds compared the performance to?  $61K.  Try comparing the G8 to something in it's price range please.

$30,000?! That's seriously cheap. No way it'll be 15k in the UK though. If it even gets over here.

Frankly after watching the video it looked crap. I've never see two cars that move so sluggishly. I doubt it does drive like a BMW. Whilst I appreciate to an extent you're paying for the badge, there's no way a $30k car can handle like a BMW.

You've seen the skidpad numbers, why so doubtful?

Edit:
2008 BMW 535i according to Edmunds:
0 - 60 (sec):     5.5 = slower than Pontiac
1/4 Mile (sec @ mph):     14.0 @ 100.4 = also slower than Pontiac
Slalom (mph):     65.3 = slower than Pontiac
Skid Pad Lateral acceleration (g):     0.89 = slightly better than Pontiac

So look you get .4 on the skidpad and a slower car with the BMW ... for twice the price.
