Or should I not even bother between the two and go for the DX 10.1 cards?

(If the latter choice, please post link)

The GTS.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Because those are the two best cards that I could find with a reasonable price

and as I said im open to others, but I just want something that will last (as far as being obsolete)

The GTX is getting a bit old to drop that kind of cash on.

as far as simple, what is the MAIN difference between the GTX and the G92?

This crap confuses me, I heard the GTX is more of a beast, more shaders etc...

Also isnt the GTX freaking huge?

What kind of power do I need? (im running a 650 watt PSU right now)

Get an Evga G92 GTS, unless you have a monitor larger than 22".

Go with the GTS. There's a performance difference between the two, but not by a lot.

Plus, if you go EVGA, you can always use their Step-Up program. Good luck and I'm sure either choice you make, you'll me happy with.

Get the GTS. The extremely minimal performance gap is not worth the extra hundred dollars. Save the cash and get yourself a 500GB HDD instead for that massive pron collection.

Here.

Although in the search it may appear to have only four eggs, it actually has 93% 5 egg reviews.

I ordered exactly that deal last week from newegg. Get it.

I'm glad you posted that link, as I'm now reminded that I need to send in that damn rebate.

I've got that card and I love it. The only thing that gives it fits is crysis for obvious reasons.

Go with the GTS. You can increase the card by over 30% just with the stock fan at 60% which makes it outperform the GTX hands down. The only main difference in the two cards is that the GTX has more memory bandwidth but that's about it... plus you can't overclock a GTX anywhere near the amount you can with the GTS. Don't waste the extra hundred bucks on a 12% increase in performance which gets blown away with minor overclocking.

You should also with with EVGA instead of ASUS. The step-up program is great and you can't beat EVGA's lifetime warranty (Which covers overclocked cards I believe) and customer support.

Yes.  This card overclocks like a champ and runs anything you throw at it on the highest settings (except Crysis, but that goes without saying).  Still, even Crysis looks great on it.  I think the price/performance ratio is excellent.  I'm jealous, I bought my GTS for $350 when it first came out, now you are paying $100 less

I bought two 7800GT's for 250 or 350 for SLI
the second card was useless because the second PCI express slot was faulty on my board   had to sell it

But yeah    for overclocking what's a good guide? And for people who have the card overclocked... How much did u overclock it?

Will buy it this afternoon     karmaz for the link posters
