I've had a  look around and I can find threads about FRAPS but not answering my question.

Rite I have made a video using FRAPS on 2142 and the FPS did drop to around 30 at times, lastnight I tried to make a bf2 video but the FPS dropped to bellow 12 at some points making the game really hard work.

Both games are set to high detail, my question is how come bf2 makes the FPS drop to much where as 2142 is still playable????.
I would have expected 2142 to be more demanding with it being that bit newer.

Am I rite that dropping the detail should help out with this????

The less HD space you have to spare, the more fraps will lag you. Also if you don't record sound the files are smaller so it might help the lag.

Dropping detail will help. Also closing other background apps. The difference in frames could be different kinds of maps. Say, for example, youre playing a city map on 2142 and a Chinese map on 2, 2 will take more resources because the Chinese map is more laggy. (atleast from the experience Ive had)

Move the Framerate in Fraps to 50 or 60 FPS instead of 30.
When you record video, the game will try to run at the same frame rate as Fraps does.
Increasing the framerate in fraps will increase the framerate while recording the video.
This worked for me on Lock-On game, when I played I was 50 FPS, but while recording I had 5-10 FPS
Now I changed Fraps to be on 60 FPS, and when I record the game is no more limited, so it just does as fast as possible.

I wish this is understable, you know I'm French....  ;-P
