I have heard different opinions before and I want to hear what you have to say about this topic.

Some have said to set the master volume to a certain percentage and control speaker volume to raise and lower volume output.

Which one do you guys think is more correct?

It depends from the drivers and speakers/amp you have.

Whichever is more convenient to you?  Unless you are an audiophile, it probably won't make a difference.

I usually set the master volume and leave it and adjust the speaker volume.  If i'm using my usb headphones I set the wave output and then adjust the master volume with the buttons on the headphone cord.

Doesn't matter really, but I always leave master volume @ 100% and change the volume of my speakers. If I leave the speakers at max and have them in analog mode, they can pick up interference from my mobile phone, so that's not a good option. My speakers have a remote control, so that's more convenient than using the keyboard to change the volume.

While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

I tend to have my speaker volume at a specific point and control the master volume with my G15, much easier than reaching for the speaker.

Depends. If I'm gaming, I usually use the leet volume control on my G11, if I'm listening to music, well, I must say that I use both, as I have three amps connected to my PC.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I wouldn't suggest that, I would suggest setting the speakers about in the middle, then adjust the volume in windows. If your speakers are at the highest, sometimes they crackle and stuff, and if windows decides to screw you and mess with the volume, you might go deaf if it plays something loud, or blow out your speakers.
