Rumors are that BF3 will require a lot and by a lot I really mean a lot of resources from your system.  If that's so will you upgrade your system?  What are you getting just to play BF3?

I run a gateway FX with an 8800 in it and 3 gigs of ram, but the processor isn't very good (1.66 ghtz Intel Core 2 Duo -the basic one). Happily, you can upgrade the processor in it, so I will probably get a new processor and maybe some more ram.

vote: "No, I'm not buying another game full of bugs"

The bugs themselves wouldn't be so bad, but the complete apathy and amateurism regarding the game and patches coming from EA+DICE is what drove me over the edge.

No.

You can run the game with 2 gigs, but the recommended specs will be 4 gigs, fi they told me right.

plus it runs vista, so 4 gigs of ram would probably be best.

If EA pulls a Crysis with the system specs that will be the last straw.

I'll make upgrade as soon as there will be official announcement about BF3 and it's specs.

Who the fuck knows what BF3 is going to need to run it 'nicely'.

There's absaloutely no info on the game other than it will probably run the Frostbite engine.

Unless Dice pulls their heads out of their asses and actually makes a functional game, there is no way in hell I will buy another from them.

BF2 was apparently functional enough that you spent 1700 hours playing it.

Where are these "rumors" coming from? Or do you mean speculation?

There's no way EA is going to let DICE release a game that would eliminate their largest chunk of consumers, aka, people with mid-low end PCs. You could argue that they did it with crysis, but I think that they've realized that that move was a mistake.

But to answer the question, yes, if it looks amazing, has awesome gameplay, and a hugely destructible environment. Although I think that my current  specs(q6600, 4gigs 800mhz, 8800GTS 512) should be more than sufficient.

Naw, I'm done with gaming. If I want to play games, I'll just go to my friends house to play 360.
I won't be buying BF3.

Well, if it's using the Frostbite engine, then shitty pc's are out of question.

This could be remedied with having some servers running destructible maps and others not. I'm assuming this is what would be the biggest drain? lighting effects, texture quality, and such are always adjustable.

Seriously, you're all so negative about EA/Dice.
Admit it, BF2 was a hell of a game. So it it a few bugs, but who gives, it was still the most time I've ever spent on a game, and it has a damn good reason.
Anyways, for upgrading, I'm halfway through building a system, then I might abuse the step up program and get a 9900gts or somethin', so that should be good enough.

Well, I don't actually HAVE a pc at the moment so I think I'd need to upgrade. When I get one I plan on building it myself and having a setup that can last me a while.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.

Both:

Yes. There's a good chance I'm going to be buying Battlefield 3, since it's not just going to be a mod like 2142. No, I'm upgrading my computer to play other games (especially ones I already have) on high, and contemplating a rig for something as far off as BF3 is silly.

MY box is runnig a single core fx-55, a shit tastic mobo, so i'll be upgrading anyway.

However, I may wait a couple of months to see what the community says about BF3, if it's a pile of CDTs and BSODs, i'll just wait for the fixes, and a bit lower price.   Or just try the beta, and go from there.

I learned my lesson on the 2142 beta.  I didn't like the beta, bought the game, and found the exact same opinion.

GTAIV will be taking over my life. Why care about this?

Anyway, there will be better games out than this when the time comes. If not, my system can cope.
