Do any of you own this pistol?  If so, where did you purchase it and for what price?

https://www.paulsfirearms.com/image/5432847.jpg
(yes, I know the one in the pic is 9mm)

My cousin has the .40 and after putting some rounds through it I really like it.  Looking to get one possibly next year with my tax return.

Very similar design and Glocks are excellent pistols.  However, the Glock just does point as naturally for me, not sure why.

Looks very Glocky to me, but nicer though. Especially the grip seems more comfortable. Don't get a .40 though; 9mm/9mm corto/.45 ACP/10mm,.. .40=fail calibre

.45 ACP looks attractive and they have .45gap too, with which I have no experience, though I hear it gives .45 ACP performance in a shorter round.

leave the GAP, the .45ACP has been kicking ass long enough to not have to mess with it.

if you ever plan on using it in defense, get some DAMN good tac ammo.

I used to own an XD40 bi-tone. I believe I purchased it for $375 from my local Sportsmans Warehouse, but this was in the first 6 months that they were released, so i'm not sure if there have been changes in price since.

I got rid of mine because I never carried it(snubnose .357 FTW), but it was a decent firearm. It has some nice safety features, and with the 1000 rounds I put through it over a few sessions, I never had any feeding/jamming issues.

The only problem I had is with the set sights. The 2 pistols I've purchased from Springfield have had inaccurate sights out of the box(TRP 1911, and XD). But with the XD is wasn't too much of an inconvenience sending it in, as I wanted to put tritium night sights in - A MUST.

IDK, I think the .40 is a good balance between stopping power and control/recoil. Personally, I would never own a 9mm. Too small a caliber for my comfort.

.45cal acp is the only round imo...9mm will bounce off a windshield hehe

With the .45, the taget bounces off the windshield

I've got to consider a weapon as well, something small enough to fit in my wife's hands, but with enough grunt to stop a dipsh*t if he comes too close.

Nice looking weapon Stingray, and I wholeheartedly agree with the "feel" thing.  The old 1911A1 is my pistol, always has fit me better than any other I've ever piped a round in.

Noted.  Loved shooting my father in law's Double Eagle .45 ... beautiful.

Thanks for the info.  I’ve heard from all XD owners I’ve talked to that their very good regarding no feeding/jamming problems.  I’ve also heard of the stopping power/recoil balance for .40.  Guess it must be a personal preference.

I’d like to have something my wife could handle if needed.  She could use my H&K USP 9mm very easily.

Bit big and heavy though.

SIG P239 is a decent defense gun, but it is 9mm. Wanting anything 'above' a 9mm in a compact 'purse-gun' severly limits your options. Fat chance you'll end up with a subcompact Glock. Perhaps a Beretta Px4 subcompact in .45,.. Italian would be stylish for a lady in any case

it's all about effective rounds down range.  accuracy ftw - just because my buddy shot a .45 the other day (and didn't hit sh*t) doesn't make him any safer than me w/my 9mm.
i did shoot the XD-9 at the gun show i just went to,(first pic) and i liked it very much.  i liked how there wasn't much on the side - made for a clean draw.  no idea on pricing tho...

I've messed with a few thousand of those guns....

Make sure you don't get the compact version, it's kinda uncomfortable in your hand.  and the grip/front strap is partially built into the mag.

I didn't explain with enough detail.  WI does not allow conceal carry yet (stupid liberal governor vetoed it twice) so the pistol would be in our bedroom in a quick access safe that I plan to purchase along with the pistol.  That way it can be loaded, but safely locked away from curious kids and ready for use on a moments notice.  Child locks are good, but they make the gun useless for home defense.  She knows how to use my shotgun, but she could handle the pistol much better.

some neighbors just had two guys come in their house with pistols and take their shit at gunpoint.  to think that a pistol under your bed, in a case, with a lock, is going to do much for home defense is foolish.  i can, however, see it could be used if you hear something at night which makes you get up or something...

it seems you have taken the .45 to be the best round in this situation, but i still would rather a 9mm.  the chances of me firing more than once is high, and since multiple rounds fired in the same spot nearly eliminates fragmentation and deviation, i would rather be accurate with a rapid rate of fire than spraying .45s all over and thru the car.  do you want to hit the kid in the backseat anyway? or is your target just the person in the passenger seat?

I was referring to one of these since we cannot legally carry in WI.

XDs are the plastic choice of 1911 fans (same grip angle and safety), as you probably already know.  My only beef with it is it has the highest bore axis giving you more flip than you need.  Of course an even grip letting it flip up and down freely will give you fine follow up shots..you'll just wait a little more instead of being able to muscle the flip down to nothing like you can on it's competitors (glock, m&p, steyr m9, etc).

My buddy has the xd9 and xd45 service models and they both flip more than their glock/m&p counterparts in my experience. The XD is a dang sexy looking gun with probably the best safeties around for plastic guns, and their prices are competitive with their closest counterparts.

BUt if you want the best plastic gun, get the M&P.  <---ok, I tried to not be biased  until this point.  And now I'm forced to show pics...sorry.

Also, XDs are in the 400's used around here, which is good since they're usually more in CA.  Also, does WI let you open carry loaded/unloaded?

to each his own, but the .45ACP is a proven more effective round than the 9mm.
and believe it or not, the 9mm penetrates more than the .45.
1300fps and a light round make for over penetration, in almost ANY situation. a 9mm round has a high chance of leaving the target, and thus reducing the amount of hydrostatic shock. a .45 travels at roughly 800 fps....much slower than the 9mm, and it weighs less. which gives it more of a chance to stay in the target, and all energy will be absorbed.

but, as ive stated numerous times....i am a 1911 WHORE, so of course i will advocate the carrying of .45ACP rounds
