- Does bullet drop really happen in BF2?
I think aiming above the head could be due to simple bad hit detection. Ive noticed that i occasionally have to shoot the same person 3 or 4 times in the head with the m95 from close range, 40-50m. While theyre laying prone, not moving that is. And before someone says the inevitable, I do actually know how to aim.
Yep it does exsist.
I believe there was a quick video shot released about a month ago that showed one sniper firing a shot at 400m, hitting him only when the M95 was aimed with the first bar below the scope. That was the only confirming evidence I've seen of bullet drop, though it does appear that the rifles hit shy of their targets at distances of 100m if you're shooting at something like a cobra and you can see where the shot buries.
One shot in the head kills bud. You're not hitting anything at 40-50 m because you're not letting your shot settle first. If you take more than 2 shots to kill, sit there and wait a few more seconds before taking the next shot.Skruples wrote:

you constantly clutter these forums with posts that have been covered several times.
im fairly certain you have even been admin warned on a few occasions yet the problem still exists.......DS

theres no bullet drop, next time i play i'll go into a server and fraps me shooting someone from far away and hitting them in the head with one shot. If you have to aim higher to him them, then there must be something wrong with you graphics settings. I've hit people with the m95 from so far away that you can just see their outline in the fog (not braggin, just sayin), you just have to left your shot settle before firing. Go run around with the assault kit and go prone, see how long it takes for the crossairs to get as small as they'll go and you'll see what I'm talking about.
YES THIER IS. Open the game files yourself if you doubt it. All weapons are given a drop varible, for example C4 is set with a low varible so it drops quickly, bullets were given one. Yet from my testing it hardly makes a differance.
So I can say for a fact it does indeed exsist, yet for how it effects each gun is up in the air. (bad pun intended)

There is bullet drop. period.theres no bullet drop, next time i play i'll go into a server and fraps me shooting someone from far away
When we say 'long range' we are talking distances that involve looking off to the side so we can spot people behind the normal range of clipping, and then take shots at their profiles, or by cross referencing with nearer landmarks.
Like nailing people on the little arty island on wake from the same site near northern flag.
On most maps its such a trivial ammount as to be non-relevant.
Karkand for example, you'd have to be shooting almost all the way across the bay for it to be really noticable.
Bullet drop is simply a sniper's worst enemy, although it happens a lot worse in real life in BF2 it isn't much of a problem, simple rule to follow:
For every 10 meters your positioned away form the target the bullet will drop 1mm on the screen, after 200 meters it becomes 2mms meters to every 10 and from about 500+ it's 3mms for every 10 meters.
This is just an estimate form the M95.
[EDIT] cms and mms are different!
