I'm sure this has been posted before... But I'm still what I would consider a new player but I need to rant about a current trend. I've recently played a dozen or so games and seem to get stuck on the worst freaking teams ever; It's almost always the American team...

There are 10 guys waiting for the chopper and some are Tking eachother, And the rest are running around just willy-nilly. Mean-while the other team is forming squads and running about like Nazi-death squads killing little kids at will. Mean while I can't get a group of more than 3 people to actualy work together to focus on taking a flag or two back and covering eachother.

I understand most of the players are kids, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figuer out that team work = buko poitns... So WTF is every one's problem. I'm tired of dying alone because I'm tring to get us more than the SINGLE flag we currently have....

I don't want to spend the time to play in a clan, but man oh man what I would do for the team-work & practice!!!

every once in awhile you get a pair or more of guys who stick with you like glue.  enjoy it when it happens.

Yeah, the lack of teamwork in game is a shame. What would be cool is if there was some voice thing that made sounds emit from the character's own mouth. Radio chatter is annoying, I repeatedly typed 'Shut up' messages to people who were agruing about what 'UAV' stood for once.

Mostly people are to impatient to wait and listen to tactics. They'd rather just dive on in there, maybe kill one guy and then wait another 15 seconds before doing it again.

Here's an idea. Pick one guy in your team, a/your squad leader is a good choice, and stick with them. You'll get that teamwork feeling, maybe not be quite as effective, but more effective than just one guy running around killing guys taking points without any structure.

yeah, that's what i do. It's better to just run around covering/being covered by one guy, even if he won't answer you in VOIP/chat, than running around by yourself.

I keep making squads and inviting 'lone wolves' to join, and they say no (mind you, they are getting creamed), so I'm like, wtf? why do you not want help? weird.

as you can see from my stats, i am a big believer of squad work (unless i am in the polarbearz's bomber/ attack heli not very often mind you)
whenever i join a game i try to look out for squads without pilots in them, chances are higher that way that they are an infantry squad. i follow my squad leader, even if he is only a PFC (could be a vet with a new account) all the way if he shows that he knows what he is doing but if he shows to be a total washout then i will up and form my own squad and invite players whom i feel could be team players.

its not very often you get into a good squad but when you do get one, it makes it all worthwhile

Holy Hell Bat Man!  You don't know HOW frustrating it is to form a squad with 6 guys and try to cap a flag surrounded by a platoon of tangos with multiple armoured gun runners only to turn around and see the rest of your squad waving at you from 4 hills back.  Or to watch the little green dots on your HUD scatter all over the map like roaches when the lights come on.  I can count with 3 fingures the people who I have met who actually played the game as it was designed to be played.

Most times I end up sniping by my self, because at least then I know I'm alone; them yesterday I joined up to a random squad and it was night and day. They were using VOIP and following the squad leader. Everyone chose their KIT or were asked to switch based on what was needed. It was freaking great.

Cover was used and we moved methodically, taking care to not even travel down ally-ways with crush-points at the end. I guess I need more geeky friends who would play with me and just meet up on a server...

Teamwork left BF2 as soon as 12 and 13 year olds could get hold of the game..solution:

Get a squad together, or get your clan together and play.

It really depends on some factors like lucky day, good server with good teamplayer, joining the right squad,solarwinds,etc....

I remember one of those good old BF1942 days where you got in trouble when you used a vehicle without being an engineer.
But I also remember the days when the idiots there used a tank to drive to a fighterplane and blocked the whole runway with the friggin tank.

One of those things you can still see today in BF2. :-(

Nice. If you have time to commit, you'll really enjoy it.

A little info about it...The Tour takes teamwork to another level, seeing as you aren't just working with your own squad but all 30 members of your team.

You practice each week with your regiment (Squad) and Division (all squads and Air force combined) improving your strategy for that week's battles (you know the map in advance).  Each week there are two 10-hour battles, one on Thursday and one on Sunday. There is also a Special Forces group that plays the expansion on Saturdays.

No vehicle stealing, ( or tk'n for a vehicle) as they are allocated by command based on the battle's strategy. No bunny hopping or dolphin diving, as they’ll get you booted, as well as embarrassed by your peers. No hacks or exploits as your team will forfeit the round if discovered. Hella mod'd maps that are a nice change from the same ol ranked maps on pub servers. Training courses for medics, paratroopers, sniping, Armor, AF; etc.

To give you an example of what a battle has been like for me. Last week we played Clean Sweep against the 2MC (2nd Marines) and my regiment (6 guys) was responsible for defending the 'Small Airstrip' and making sure the flag wasn't capped or the bomber stolen. We weren't flying the bomber, that was the job of the Air Force, but we needed to make sure it was there for them when it spawned.

On numerous occasions one or more 2MC squads, accompanied by F15 bombing runs and chopper support, assaulted the airstrip.  Defending a flag against an organized assault, especially a flag that you spent time practicing to defend, is pretty exciting. Way more competitive than pub server play and way more pressure to perform well, which is a good thing, imo. Clean sweep is a defensive map for the MEC, which is the army I'm in, but not all fights will revolve around defending a flag the entire round. In Mashtur we were helo dropping and assaulting the mosque form the Back Yard. Was a massive shootout at the mosque with 3 or 4 organized squads fighting one another at a time. Now that's a firefight.

You can also read about the tour on BF2's official site, they are endorsing it. http://www.ea.com/official/battlefield/battlefield2/us/home.jsp

A story about the Tour was also in last month's edition of Computer Gaming World.

Anyway, hope you enjoy the Tour, I know I am.

very rarely team work happens even if i make a squad ppl join and they dont work together just go off on there own.

some times though theres that squad member that always follows me / covers me + repair me but its rare the game would be so much more fun if ppl worked together.

Its not fun taking on 10 people at the same  time every time you spawn.

Show me when and where. I like running in squads. Not nessacerily to do specific jobs, but when you're working together and covering each other. One is a medic, the other spec ops and a few assault and engineer. One time I was on a server for 4 hours straight with the same 5 guys. We really enjoyed the games together. If noly I had remembered their names till now. Would of got them into a clan with me at some point!
