Looking to take up a striking martial art/sport to develop my stan up skills. I already practise jujitsu.
Anyone suggest which I should choose?

Been training Karate for 8 years now, it's pretty good.

Don't know about Kick Boxing though.

Is it actually useful in a real life situation tho? I mean i've read about the kata. Is that beneficial?

Took Karate for about 6 years, wasn't much of a workout, and really boring. I would choose Kick Boxing

Muay Thai for sure. I've been doing that for a while along with kickboxing and regular boxing.

Depends what you want to learn it for. For a Hobbie, Kick boxing, for self defence... None. Nobody in a street fight is going to ass about with special cool looking moves. They'll just hit you in the face whilst you pray and pose.

Style of the crouching Tiger! I'll pass.

I did jujitsu for like 5 years and it improved my fitness and reactions as well as teaching me how to punch block and move in a fight... helped me loads. I'd recomend kickboxing as it seems fun
I'd type my pc specs out all fancy again but teh mods would remove it. Again.

It all depends on your desired "path" grasshopper.  If you want speed and striking then go into muay thai or kung fu.  If you want power and strength go into karate, aikido, or krav maga.  Karate giving you speed and striking as well but I always saw it as too rigid.

It's really a tough question to answer because each style has merits but most don't see those until they reach a high enough proficiency in the discipline.  That means a commitment of more than just a couple of years.

I mean honestly, would anyone fuck with a master of an established fighting style?

Kung fu's a rather wide term.

Wing chun is one of the best forms of fighting/defence at close range.  However, if the other person has sufficient time to pull off heavy kicks, your best bet is to wait until the kick is just past, then jump in and hit the person in the face/diaphragm.  Wing chun just trains you to do that faster.

I still think kick boxing is one of the most effective forms of self defence. It seems very easy to apply I mean look at all the awesome K-1 Cro-cop is a beast!

Kickboxing will toughen you up quickly. Karate can make you a good fighter, but it will take years. Kung Fu can make you a killing machine, but it will take decades. Stick with kickboxing, especially Muay Thai.

Take traditional boxing. I'm more scared of a traditional boxer than martial artist.

if you want something to round you out, study something like kendo or jogo do pau

When I was like 14 I went to punch some kid who was a black belt in karate, he did some back spin leg sweep move and practically flipped me upside down, I hit my head so hard that I couldn't even hear for 10 minutes.

I kind of wish he just hit me in the face
