Ok my problem is that I have my Xbox 360 and I want to play in HD and have surround sound, BUT my Receiver is not HD. So I was wondering is it possible and would the sound still be the same if I plug my SexBox into the TV (with HDMI) then use the TV's audio out jacks to connect that to my receiver?
well, Sound through HDMI is better than the sound through audio jacks, but it should still work.
I assume you could set it up in settings. Why not just give it a try?

Use an HDMI from the 360 to the TV and use an optical from the TV to the receiver. That way you'll at least keep your digital sound and Dolby capabilities. Or better yet, just go with an optical straight from the 360 to the receiver if the receiver supports either of those. You'll have a couple more buttons on your remotes to press, but that's a small price to pay food great audio.
