He needed a huge buff. You can't possibly deny that. Against Soldiers, Demomen, Heavys, Engineers, Medics (with the blut) he had no chance. This summed up most Pyro Soldier encounters.

In fact, the 3 classes slower than him were all far better for close range fighting - what the pyro was designed for and the only thing he's any good at - as well. All the others had the option of just running away.

Now he's a valid choice for an attacking or defending team, and hopefully the king of close combat.

In addition to the three unlockable Pyro weapons, we've made a significant addition to the base Pyro flamethrower. By hitting the alt-fire key, the Pyro is able to produce a blast of compressed air that knocks enemies away, and redirects enemy projectiles. It’s a highly versatile tool, allowing Pyros to get away from nearby enemies after igniting them, to kill enemy soldiers with their own rockets, or to separate enemy Medics from their healing targets. In particular, it allows a skilled Pyro to contain an enemy invulnerability push, and even to separate the Medic completely if the surrounding terrain supports it.
That sounds fucking awesome!!! Plus the Flare Gun and Backburner sound genious too!!

I best start practicing with the Pyro, I've only played it for 8 hours (its my lowest )

The best part of these achievements is that, aside from a few here and there, they promote good Pyro-ing.

Shotgunning people you've set on fire, lots of spychecking and sentry protecting, defend points, destroy buildings, etc etc.

Achievements sounds fun as hell.

Edit: Since a crit from a flamethrower stays as long as you hold the button, does the flamethrower unlockable do criticals even if the target turns around?
Or does it only do criticals as long as you hit them in the back?

I don't think it'll happen. They wouldn've said if it was possible to use it for jumping.

Awesome news about 25 achievements for unlocking everything, the achievements seem a lot more easier to get seeing as the Medic achievements relied on your healing skills a lot really, and a bit of luck along the way.
