Must have been Clintons ear also. Halliburton was the most experienced and qualified company to take on the challenges in Iraq. To credit your statement we would have to give the job to a less competent company. I'll leave the mindless speculation to the guys who need simple answers to complex problems. The sad thing is the anti-Bush/Cheney crowd is so blinded by their anger that they miss the real nefarious reasons behind invasion.

You're fucking insane ATG.  When you are old and there is no social security for you, I hope you think back to what you have said here.

#1  I don't feel bad about cashing any government check and will take anything I can get from the government.  2.5 trillion a fucking year and they still can't get enough to balance the budget and have to up the retirement date for Social Security.  They bleed me dry with their temporary fed taxes, FICA, Mediscare......  and they will until the day I stop working which will be when I die.  Yeah, I'll take everything I can from the government and not feel bad.

#2  Yet just like Lowing I don't support all the government spending.  I don't support the bloated budget and stupid policies, but WHY THE FUCK WOULD I PUNISH MYSELF by not cashing a $2000 child tax credit from the government even though I think it is the stupidest fucking thing I ever seen?

#3  You know it is fucking Saturday?  I have to work thus why I am killing time on this forum.  Fuck spend some time with your family instead of making stupid posts.

Not hardly Serge. I do not work for the govt.

I guess when I was back at the airline you could/ would say the same thing since I fell under FAA regulations. It is a weak attempt to come up with an excuse for my successes and his apparent lack of them.

I guess by your definition, a mailman is a govt. leech as well, while the welfare recipient is not, since he isn't WORKING for the govt.

Gimme break with this line of bullshit.
Let me tell you I'm happy for your success and nobody is saying you doesn't deserve what you've earned.  But your company has been awarded a contract to work for the government, right?  In a warzone, right?  And they pay your company's contract with tax money, right?  And most of these contracts are always overpaid, maybe this is not the case.  So, your pay check comes from tax money.  I don't say it's wrong, I don't say it's ok.  When you worked for the airline, it probably felt under chapter 11, right?  That isn't the same thing.
Sorry Serge, I was called a mercenary for working for a company that has a govt. contract. When rhis contract is over, I will still be working for this company. My benefits are not from the govt. they are from my company. Look up Serge to the otherpost, a lot of people are paid by the govt. tax dollars based on your criteria. Do you still believe ATG's bullshit after reading that list?
I didn't call you a mercenary.  You should be more moderate when you talk about responsibility and understand that not everyone receiving the government's help is a leecher dude.  That's all.  Nobody thinks you don't deserve your job or anything.

You really should research. There was actually an FBI investigation into your claims (2004). The original work was done by a pre-existing competitive contract with Halliburton (2001). The contract that they are currently working under was bid as well.

You're still treating the Iraq attack as an act of god, something inevitable. Could you explain why? You seem to look at the war as the cause and Halliburton's profits as the effect.

Halliburton etc knew they'd get the contracts. Halliburton etc. had the means to influence national policy. I find it hard to imagine they abstained from wielding their influence.

I'm not defending them. In fact I said Cheney was an ass. I just think you do a disservice to the truth when you pursue the weak arguments. There are other valid and disturbing things to expose here. I'm a traditional conservative. I believe in our constitution. You show me where it says anything about nation building. This type of faction politics is what our founding fathers warned us about. Too often we look for what will make us appear to be right. We should be pursuing the truth, no matter how ugly it is.

The point was to illustrate that the results of action is not necessarily indicative of the reasons for action. You missed that.

The war was about getting Bush re-elected. Iraq made an easy target to show a position of strong national defense. Americans wanted that after the attacks. The war was not nearly as unpopular in 2003. This was reflective in the congressional votes for the invasion (apparently the majority of congress was taking money from Halliburton ) I suppose it was Halliburton convincing Saddam to ignore years of UN resolutions also.

Hey, if they had the balls to say " we are going to fuck you Iraq; occupy your country, take your oil and administrate your camel jockey asses " it would be one thing.

But no. They stood there are claimed the Iraqis would pay for their own liberation.
