No. The cost of living in CT, NJ, Boston, and NYC is quite high. Higher than Nevada which only had a handfull of stores. And I don't think Sam Walton had a problem paying his employees at all. He was the first company in retail to incorporate profit sharing bonuses to ALL of his employees, from the carriage guys to the executives. You would be surprised actually, I might be taking a job with the evil empire because of how much they pay. My buddy is 29 and made $200,000 last year as a store manager. Assistant managers make $50,000 - $60,000 a year as well. I mean no racism here but the Walmart in my town looks like it gathered all of the REALLY trashy black people, we're talkin bums straight outta D.C., and forced them to work in it. And then they have these assholes loitering out front that give a nasty glare to any white people that walk into the store. I hope they drop dead some day, I hate racists of all kinds. Most of the workers themselves aren't racist, they're just power hungry, they say no to everyone, even other black people just because they can, it's literally sickening. Though there was this one incident where the lady in the food court wouldn't serve us supposedly just because people wouldn't clean up after themselves, and I saw a few people(black) sitting down, some of them even with food.
I suppose that's how it is in the "real world" though.
Don't get me wrong though, any other Walmart is a great place. The one in Myrtle Beach is actually FUN to go to, the employees are so helpful and it looks like they actually enjoy their jobs. I even actually was able to have a conversation with one of the cashiers when I bought Rainbow Six Vegas 2 from there.

They kick ass at returns though, they do such high volume they don't even give a shit. I bought a BBQ and it was missing a part, they didn't want to look at what I brought back, they didn't care about a receipt, they just said go grab another one bring it up here and take the part you need.
As far as "what wall mart does to small buisness" I am kinda torn... a part of me wants to say its not fair...
A part of me says, just like Hurricane points out... they don't offer anything other then cheap products. Blame your fucking self for not being able to be better at what you do then walmart. Get an education, much like illegal immigration walmart isn't taking quality or skilled jobs.

The best was when the guy was successful in keeping Wal-Mart out of town. Keeping Wal-Mart out did nothing to stop the local small business from going under . Wal-mart makes an easy target to excuse away failure.

And no it's not the reason the entire system fails. Their computer section just fails. If there's one good thing about living in DC it's that I've never had to go to a Wal-Mart here.
Oh and j56 it's cause you live in PG county, it's like DC Junior. I don't know why anyone would wanna move to DC except if they were moving to Dupont Circle, Bethesda, or NoVA.
