Honestly I think that she'll be fine in a few days now your home, though if your that worried it can't burth to get her checked out especially as your sissters paying.

We found a really good kennel around here that specialises in large dogs (akita's, so my pet wolf was  fine for them to manage) he was really happy there as  it was surrounded by fields, he came back really happy and looking better than he was when he went in. He had a better holiday than we did.

My dog was freaking out last night, because she possibly heard thunder, even though it was just traffic. She started panting and clawing things and going berserk, so my mom had to put her in the kennel in the basement. My dog does this sort of thing probably 5 out of 7 nights a week.

Now she hates us
Releasing energy. Dogs should have atleast an hour of play time a day. Any unused energy tends to become unwanted behavior. ie chewing on self, licking, panting a lot, ect.

....My plan is to wait 3 days and if she's not seeing definite signs of improvement I'm gonna take her to the vet, right now the only pain she's showing is with her 3 injured paws, which she's grumpily nursing, otherwise she's eating and sleeping and drinking fine...
Jamesey, I would hold of on going to the vet and just monitor her for a week or so.  The rash could of been something she got into at the kennel like poison ivy or could be from stress.  It should go away on its own but if it doesn't, then see a vet.   For the nails I would monitor them daily for signs of infection and keep them covered up with a sock held on with medical or masking tape.  you don't want her licking at the wound, it will only delay healing.

Guess now's as good a time as any for an update

the scabs on her nose are healing and she's not showing any signs of itching or pain on her face so it seems it's on the mend.

As she was already pretty distressed, and she's had a broken nail in the past I've kind of kept my distance and let it sort itself, I checked today and all 3 nail beds are scabbed over, she's no longer licking them and she's walking fine on all paws, no obvious pain showing, much better than yesterday when she was limping and whimpering.

Anyways, we played some fetch in the garden and she didn't seem to have any mobility problems. Mum's friends came round and where she'd usually be running around mad looking for attention she barely even looked up today, which is worrying.

pat her and give her a ton of sympathy, dogs LOVE attention.
This is probably the best advice in this whole thread - dogs are pack animals and view their owners as the head of the pack - when said pack head goes away they get very stressed - you only have to sit and watch a dog that isn't yours when their owner goes out of the house (or in some case just out of the room) to see this - give her lots of attention and tell her you're back and everything is fine.

She could run around for 4 hours, but if a storm stirs up, she goes haywire.

Jamesy your dog looks ok.  I got a Staff and know the breed well along with all dog breeds.  Staff's are prone to loosing their fur in the head area due to a 'mite'  I would say your dog ISN'T suffering from this, it could of had a mite problem but that dosen't mean the mite inbedded itself.  It could also be sunburn your dog has caught with the effects of stress and scratching at a door/fence/gate aswell.

I sent my older dog away to have her pups and she killed them all by rolling on them and not allowing them to suckle as she wasn't with me, I drove the 2 hours to go and pick her up after not having her for a week and the guy said upon my arrival it was if she was a differen't dog.

Its harsh and they make excellent pets and I love dogs but you hav to remember they are working animals and thrive on that aswell not just affection.

I'm taking the new pup to the vet tomorrow to get her jags, so I've made an appointment for my dog as well, just so the vet can give her a once over, she's perked up a lot but is still quite nervous and depressed, could also use a bandage or two on her broken nails.

Can imagine she gets twitchy whenever your looking like you are off out now but its something the dog will have to get used to.  Her confidence will return in no time with your help and attention, perfect time of the year for evening walks aswell, let the good times roll.

She's been to the vets and he's prescribed a week course of antibiotics and then a check-up, he says the face is probably due to her scratching her nose against the kennel door in stress, and the claws from scratching at the door.

Her front paws are healing but her back is showing signs of infection which the antibiotics should help with, if not he'll put her to sleep and snip out the nail bed to nip it in the bud

She's a lot more confident today and was her usual terrible self on the bus to the vets, panting, smiling and attempting to chase other dogs, the vet says she should be back to normal within a week if her paw heals up.

8O (actually, I understand what you mean by "put her to sleep", but I read that and was like "what? nooo!")
