BF2S Forums Dogs and stress?

Honestly I think that she'll be fine in a few days now your home, though if your that worried it can't burth to get her checked out especially as your sissters paying.

We found a really good kennel around here that specialises in large dogs (akita's, so my pet wolf was  fine for them to manage) he was really happy there as  it was surrounded by fields, he came back really happy and looking better than he was when he went in. He had a better holiday than we did.

Jamesey, I would hold of on going to the vet and just monitor her for a week or so.  The rash could of been something she got into at the kennel like poison ivy or could be from stress.  It should go away on its own but if it doesn't, then see a vet.   For the nails I would monitor them daily for signs of infection and keep them covered up with a sock held on with medical or masking tape.  you don't want her licking at the wound, it will only delay healing.

This is probably the best advice in this whole thread - dogs are pack animals and view their owners as the head of the pack - when said pack head goes away they get very stressed - you only have to sit and watch a dog that isn't yours when their owner goes out of the house (or in some case just out of the room) to see this - give her lots of attention and tell her you're back and everything is fine.

Jamesy your dog looks ok.  I got a Staff and know the breed well along with all dog breeds.  Staff's are prone to loosing their fur in the head area due to a 'mite'  I would say your dog ISN'T suffering from this, it could of had a mite problem but that dosen't mean the mite inbedded itself.  It could also be sunburn your dog has caught with the effects of stress and scratching at a door/fence/gate aswell.

I sent my older dog away to have her pups and she killed them all by rolling on them and not allowing them to suckle as she wasn't with me, I drove the 2 hours to go and pick her up after not having her for a week and the guy said upon my arrival it was if she was a differen't dog.

Its harsh and they make excellent pets and I love dogs but you hav to remember they are working animals and thrive on that aswell not just affection.

Can imagine she gets twitchy whenever your looking like you are off out now but its something the dog will have to get used to.  Her confidence will return in no time with your help and attention, perfect time of the year for evening walks aswell, let the good times roll.
