I'm sure the content of the video below has been discussed elsewhere, but I pose a specific question.

I am eclectic in my spiritual views. For me I explain it best like this; say you are asked to chose between hanging with Darth Vader or Yoda.

I would choose to be aligned with Yoda.

That makes me inclined to support the Light side of The Force. Or, one could say I am predisposed to lean towards a Chritian point of view.
It's instinctual. I want to do good, not evil.

So on so simple of a premise, I cannot reject God.

That aside, I can assure you that no matter how many times I had been asked the question, no matter how tired I was, I would never mistakenly call myself a Catholic.

Even if I was drunk, I would likely cause a scene slandering Catholics, rather than confuse my religion with being say...a Muslim.

There is no chance I would make this slip because as odd as my views may seem to some, I am absolutely well versed in what those views are.

He didn't catch it, the reporter did.  Case is made and closed in my opinion.

It has been popular, ever more so over the last ten years for black Americans to embrace Islam.
Louis Farikan, Mike Tyson, Cat Stevens and many others have done so and suffered the reprecussions of a few radicals bringing war to our soil. Cat Stevens is on a terrorist watch list, and he's a singer, fer Christs sake.

So for those who have a faith, would you mistake it?
Sad that in this world a Muslim cannot be President of The United States, for there is nothing more wrong with Islam than there is with Christians, or Jews or others. If Barrack had the courage to confess his Muslim faith I would admire him for it. I may not vote for him, but then again...

no, he corrected it.  and i believe he was saying something different then the way it came out.  he is not too good in interviews, and that is going to kill him.  i saw the interview with bill o'rly and he kind of sucks without a teleprompter.

I've mistakenly called myself a Christian before just because I was trying to go with the flow of conversation. It was in the topic of conversation and it just came out wrong. Doesn't mean I go to church on Sundays or celebrate Christmas all of a sudden.

It's a mistake. It's a coincidence, but it's a mistake. He mis-spoke. Oh no!

What I find funny is the same people who criticize him for sitting in a CHURCH for 20 years accuse him of being a Muslim. You can't have it both ways.

Maybe i'm saying that church seems sort of shady Muslim.

lol at this pathetic Muslim shit. No matter how hard Republicans wish it to be true it simply isn't and never will be. Talk about conspiracy theorists. Is he really an Al Qaeda mole nurtured from childhood to become the President of the United States and then bring it down from the inside?.....YoU HaVe EnTeReD tHe tWiLiGht ZoNe....

It's like the Swiftboat thing - say something untrue enough times and eventually some gormless idiots start believing it.

I don't know, I was expecting a lot worse based on what you said, so I guess it didn't seem so bad. Shame O'Reilly never let him finish a sentence, it would probably have made him look more fluid.

John McCain is the Manchurian Candidate, so we're screwed either way. It'll either be Muslims or Communists that get us!

You know whats funny about this garbage?  He was defending the allegations that he was Muslim. Listen to more than 17 seconds and you might see that it wasn't a confusion of faith, but rather a fumbling of words.

I never thought I'd ever say this. But I've got to respect the legitimate criticism lowing has brought to this forum..  It's certainly more relevant than this.

Well on my various trips to the US I have seen precious little of Islam in the broader scheme of things. I have seen plenty of black gospel choir type shit, which I imagine is Christian.

Please divulge, I'd love to hear it.

I guess over over 1.2 million Americans are Muslim (in addition to the number we already have). I guess we do have a Muslim problem, eh?

My aunt and cousins are Christian. My immediate family as well as the rest of my close relatives all practice (although some don't really anymore) reform Judaism.

Except that there is no such thing as a qualification for political office (other than age and citizenry). I'm guessing a lot of the people in our governments don't hold degrees in political theory or international relations either.

I am shocked Sir that you have failed to see my point.

I am asking those of faith to examine their capacity for mislabeling it. Something so profoundly foundational to our world view cannot be dismissed as the hurried utterings of a beleagured candidate, no Sir. As is said in comedy, behind every joke is a portion of truth. Elsewise, we couldn't relate and find the humor. A Freudian slip some may say. A parapraxis of epic proportions.

And I care naught if he is Muslim.
It's the economy stupid.

The logical reason behind the slip is this: he is constantly being bombarded with this accusation of him being a muslim or having been a muslim. Being preoccupied with this means that it is always on the back of his mind. The mind fetches information by association. In this instance, under the pressure of interview, he has obviously fetched the wrong word in relation to his faith given the fact that his faith is being associated with Islam countless times and he is constantly having to battle such notions in the press and public. Quite simple really. That would be one Freudian analysis of this (and yes I have read some Freud).

You may notice it in your own slips - where your mind is preoccupied with something else and it inexplicably enters a sentence you are uttering.
