Good day,

A few months ago, I bought a used '84 Marshall JCM 800 amp head, and I love it. I was just playing on it and I thought I noticed some slight volume dips. I know it could be from me picking differently, but I didn't think I was doing anything that would produce such and effect on the volume. I heard somewhere that volume dips indicate that the output transformer is going bad, but I'm far from an expert on tube amps. So, my question is, is it the output tranny, or could it be something else?

Wrong forum my friend,
A stereo-based forum would be able to give you so much better advice then you'd find here.

^This^   &

You could take it to a shop for a consult also, someone who specializes in old tube amp style speakers and stuff (so not Best Buy or something)

3rded.  Couldn't it be the tubes?  There are always the first to go, since they are replacable.

Definately the tubes, or the output transformer.
A wise man will have a extra set in the back of his amp.
