I have a Dell 24" and can't fault it so far. Got it for $AU370 a few months back.

It doesn't have HDMI, but a simple DVI->HDMI adapter can solve that. But yeh, dedicated HDMI out is probably more convenient.

Honestly, any scree with the outputs and resolution you want should be fine. It is almost impossible to see the minor differences without two  screens next to each other. Unless its really bad, so dont get a cheapo one.

Make sure your monitor/tv has speakers built in otherwise it's going to be long if you want to get sound out of your PS3.

Well this monitor seems to be getting some great reviews. Don't fault a whole company on a bad experience when a monitor or anything like that.
Just look at the price. You don't get a decent, let alone specced-like-that LCD for that money. You get a 24" LCD. That's it. Acer make ok budget monitors, great value, but when looking for something to do more than display MS Word, they're just out of the question.

Gee, that was elaborate.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

In fact he is right, not idiot. Just look at what score the Acer G24 has at http://www.testfreaks.com/monitors/ . Good price point, but the quality of image really is not among the best.

And for surgeons, look there too. That's a very good site to check the quality of monitors

That's the only review for it. Most other monitors on that site have many reviews. This has one.

You have to be an idiot to state a whole company's products are shit because you don't like one, or you've had a bad experience with one of a completely different model. I've seen Freezer do it so many times it's laughable.

I've dealt with many, many Acer monitors.

For instance, when we got a shipment (18) of new monitors for the computer lab, 2 were DOA and one had half a broken panel. 5 of the others had at least one locked or dead pixel. The picture quality of them is absolutely horrible, with contrast ratios of "5000:1", they can't even match my lappy, which is supposedly 600:1.

Acer makes ok monitors if you're just looking for a basic monitor, but, as with all computer hardware, you get what you pay for. And you don't pay a lot for an Acer monitor.

EDIT: And no LCD monitor, especially TN, has 50000:1 contrast. That's just what they might achieve using dynamic contrast, which is not desirable when doing anything but watching movies.

I don't need crystal clear sound, it's just for my ps3, when I use it with my pc, I will be using my speakers.

Also, TV's are too expensive and usually have crappy 1366*768 something resolutions

I got this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu … =MO-025-OK through the post the other day. All I can say is wooooh. 28inch for under 300quid is seriously good value. And if you turn the brightness down to 20% contrast to 50% it looks beautiful. Read the reviews on overclockers. I have only had it 2 days and allready 2 friends have order one. after seeing it. BUY IT, TRUST ME!!

Just get a converter so you can used your speakers with PS3. Monitor speakers are always terrible.

To answer your question, I have a Samsung Pebble 20"

http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electro … oduct.html

It's nothing special, but it does the job. I only use it for my PS3 anyway. But even though the max res is 1680x1050, it can still take in 1080p signals from the PS3. And beleive me, you can notice a difference between 720p and 1080p on that monitor (trust me, you can, easily)

But I'd say seeing as you have a higher budget, go for something abit higher.

Or just get that. Speakers are nice quality.

Does it have a DVI connector? Even if it doesn't just get a DVI-HDMI converter thing or something. Also that thing will be fookin' massive in your dorm but go for it if you want. Looks good.

It has 1x VGA and 3x HDMI.

I'm pretty sure he has a 4850, which comes with a converter, so he should be good
