Ok, a question for you gfx pros:
Currently i have an Nvidia geforce 6100 (onboard lololol), and i need to upgrade (obviously) but i don't really have much money.

However, I've got a friend who can sell me a 7300 (GS i think) for £10 - will this improve my performance in bf2 much? Atm i play in 800 x 600, all low settings apart from texture, texture filtering and view distance, and get 30fps, with the same settings at 1680 x 1050 i get 15 fps. Ideally, i'd like to change my resolution to 1680 x 1050 but it's currently unplayable - if i bought the 7300 would it a) make a significant difference to framerate, and b) would i be able to play at 1680 x 1050, with 30fps or more (30fps = playable framerate, anything below is kinda hard to play with).

I have 2gb ddr ram, and a athlon 64 3800+, running xp, if this makes a difference

A 7300GS is about five times faster, but nowhere near good enough to provide a pleasant experience of any kind. Save up for at least something like this. It's about 25 times faster than your current card.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

That is such a terrible PC that words can't express, how do you even run BF2?

Ah, that's not too much more. Only thing is that by the time i have enough to buy that, i'll probably get a little bit more money at the same time, and then end up buying something better- ideally i want to get a job in about feb and save up for a 4870 - the 7300 is just intended as an interim card

@mint, yeah my PC sucks, it's about 3 years old, it was even worse until september when i upgraded from 512 ram to 2 gb (but my awesome screen makes up for it (LG 22 inch, 2ms response, 5000:1 contrast, porn )). I can run bf2, not well, but on all settings low, except texture and texture filtering and view distance which are at max, i get 30fps which isn't too bad

Remember to check you have PCI-E slot in your mobo and also check your PSU has enough beef for that one.
