I try to keep my library as organized as possible, but there are a few things that slip through the cracks, and I'd like to fix those. I'll have you know that I choose to "keep iTunes music folder organized" and "copy files to the music folder when added to library". Yet for some reason, a few of these problems still come up.
(1) Problem: Some of the files in my music folder don't have the typical "01 Track Name" file name. Instead it's something like "Track Name (a;dsflhae;jnse)"; the stuff in parenthesis is some sort of ID from the place I originally got the music.
Want: To have those files with the funky file names be called just like everything else, "## Trackname".
(2) Problem: There are duplicates (sometimes even multiples of 3 or 4) of tracks in the library folder.
Want: To remove these duplicates and only have one file for every track.
One possible solution I thought of was to change the directory of my library (where I want iTunes to save everything), use Consolidate Library to copy everything in my library to that new location, delete everything at the original (current) location, then change the directory back to where I really want it (where it currently is) and do Consolidate Library again. However, it seems pretty risky, and could possibly cause more problems in the long run. Plus, I've never Consolidated before, so I'm not entirely sure if it will produce the desired effects.
Halp pls? Thank you
