I've tried searching for a solution already, and found some fixes that did not work for me, but I am hoping some of the tech guys here on the forum might have some experience with this problem.
I left my laptop plugged in for about 1 1/2 years (never needed to use the battery), and now the battery won't charge. On the Tool Bar I get the message "Plugged in, not charging".
Some forums say the battery is dead and needs to be replaced, others that it is a software issue with Vista (I have 32bit Vista), and still others say it is a motherboard problem.
I have tried uninstalling Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and reinstalling as some guides said to do, but to no avail.
How should I proceed? I can buy a new battery for about 40$, which is less than it will cost to have to laptop looked at by a computer store here in town, so I am thinking I should go ahead and do this first.
