I thought up these two thing which would help players deal with annoying planes and helos, but they wouldn't unbalance the game or piss of pilots much.
1) AT should be given two heatseeking rockets as an addition to their arsenal (spelling?), they are as powerfull as regular AT rockets, but they hav no accuracy against land vehicles, like the ground AA lauchers, theres no lock on sound whilst the rockets are being aimed but when they fire there is. The rockets shouldn't be able to tell friend from foe, so that people won't overuse it and end up just filling up the sky with these rockets . The idea of these rockets is more to scare off than to kill, thats why theres two rockets the first one can be avoided easily witht he flares but the second will just waste you if you don't get out of range, well unless u have full health in which case it will waste half of you .
2) if you have played bf2:modern combat, you will know that snipers in that get laser designaters (i think they are called), this means you aim at a vehicle, doesn't matter what and this box appears, a smaller green box appears inside it and grows till its the same size as the outside box when this happens the boxes turn red and 2 seconds later that vehicle gets destroyed by a really big missle I reckon that this could work in bf2 for PC since it is hard to get a lock on as you have to aim dead center on the target and if the snipers only got one of them which they couldn't reload then it would add an extra edge to the gameplay. It would be so awesome if it worked. It wouldn't get whored because you would only get one which wouldn't be reloadable till you died and it would only work on vehicles not infantry. The way i see it you would need a good 10 seconds aiming time, then about 2 seconds later a single arty shell falls and wastes the vehicle no matter what or where it is (unless its under cover, after all the vehicles need some way to get away from it;)) also a little splash damge could be included making it hurt those around the vehicle almost exactly like an arty strike, just with only one shell. The driver/pilot of the vehicle would get a lock on tone and would probably realise what it was when flares or smoke didn't work. The boxes would be different sizes for different vehicles i.e planes would have the smallest boxes because they are the most manuverable and fastest and tanks would have the biggest boxes because they are the slowest and least manuverable. You could even have a medal for it i can see it now
laser designation medal:
global: 5 armour vehicles destroyed with a laser deignator
global:5 helos destroyed with a laser deignator
global: 5 planes destroyed with a laser deignator
global: 5 water vehicles destroyed with a laser deignator
global: 5 transport vehicles destroyed with a laser deignator
well what do you think?
alternativly the laser designator could put a permanent tab on vehicles without the driver realising it, for example a sniper spots a tank everyone on his/her can now see an enemy tank on their radar which will stay there till it is destroyed or unused. but i think it would just make a pilots job too easy if it worked like that.
